About this deal

While it is unlikely that Final Fantasy XIV on the Switch will ever exist (in it’s current form, anyways). A good alternative would be using the OneXPlayer instead. While veterans of the genre may balk at the idea of using controllers for an MMO, FFXIV actually has some of the most robust controller support ever seen in the genre. FFXIV was initially launched in 2010, but due to many issues, it was deemed a critical and commercial failure. It shut down in late 2012, and was completely re–launched in late 2013. It has gone on to become one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time, to the point where retailers have run out of digital copies. There are also four shoulder buttons including two linear triggers that respond to pressure sensitivity. You can buy Forza Horizon 4 from both Steam and the Microsoft Store. 5. Final Fantasy XIV FFXIV’s journey from 1.0 to today is one of the greatest redemption stories in gaming history.

Having used the Onexplayer Mini for a little while now, it highlights a couple of things about this handheld specifically, but also the market in general. The first is that Windows performs an important role in how versatile this handheld is—apps that you know and love just run on it. Got an old emulator you want to try out? It'll take you seconds to see how it fares. Nvidia Frameview? No worries. GoG Galaxy, Epic Games, you name it, they all just work straight out of the box. You’d probably never know that if you just run Windows. Even the BIOS/UEFI firmware settings menu is displayed in landscape mode. But try running Ubuntu or another GNU/Linux distribution and you’ll most likely boot into portrait mode by default. More on that below.

Can you upgrade it?

Hold the Home + Volume up key during boot (when you see the ONEXPLAYER logo on the splash screen) to enter the boot options menu and boot from a USB device, enter the BIOS/UEFI settings, or open a UEFI shell. The only negative I would say with the device is that it's quite heavy and with smaller hands feels a bit of a reach for the shoulder buttons.

So it’s kind of nice reviewing a purpose-built machine like the ONEXPLAYER. It’s designed for gaming, and I can fairly confidently tell you that you’ll probably get around 2-3 hours of battery life when playing recent 3D games that put a fairly heavy load on the computer’s CPU and GPU. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

Capable of outputting crisp, high-quality images in AAA games despite being a handheld device, the OneXPlayer is one of the best gaming handhelds to-date. The Intel Xe Graphics found in the ONEXPLAYER 1S Handheld Gaming PC by One Netbook is comparable to an Nvidia MX350 dedicated Graphics Card.

The main difference is the default TDP. The Win 3 and ONEXPLAYER have a default of 20 Watts, and the MAX 2021 has 22 Watts. This does mean that the MAX will run faster but also uses a little more battery. You can of course increase the TDP on the other two devices to match or even go higher. Thanks to using an entirely new engine, there are no more loading screens separating the hunting “zones” on the map. So your hunt will be seamless and load-free from start to finish. But I will say that I have no complaints about the layout, size, or responsiveness of the game controllers. And many of the games I’ve tested run smoothly on the ONEXPLAYER with no adjustments needed. It’s able to handle PSP, PS2, PS3, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Switch, and Xbox gaming reasonably well but struggles with Xbox 360 emulation. Benchmark performance We’ll be headlining this ONEXPLAYER FAQ with the specs of the unit (as we know them to be at the time of writing). On the integrated GPU at 20W TDP we get an average frame rate of 39.85, and at 35W we get 46.65 frames per second. You could drop the resolution or graphics a little and get a solid 60 FPS. And for storing your game library, the ONEXPLAYER 1S handheld comes with 1TB of PCIe 3.0×4 NVMe. Experience speeds up to 2400MB/s Respectable Battery

Indie games are a better fit for the Onexplayer than most AAA titles. God of War didn't run as well as I'd hoped. (Image credit: Future) The final button is a Turbo key, which lets you boost the TDP of the ONEXPLAYER from 20 watts (with a 35W PL2 power limit) to 28 watts (with a 40 W PL2 power limit). This can give you an extra boost of performance when you need it, but it will also take a toll on battery life.Want to do some work on it, or play a text adventure and don't fancy fighting with the laughably fiddly On-Screen Keyboard? Go for it. USB headphones? Sure. Mouse? No problem. External Storage? Why not. But when I reviewed the original OneGx1 (with a less powerful processor and inferior graphics), I was underwhelmed by those detachable controllers. I thought the computer made a decent mini-laptop, but a less-than-stellar gaming machine.
