About this deal

Problem 2 - The Design: Due to the design of the chip only having the 3D v-cache on one of the two CCDs, core parking during gaming workloads is applied, meaning 6 cores and 6 threads are deactivated so you're only utilising the 6 cores and 6 threads that hold the 3D v-cache while gaming. When the 7800X3D launches that CPU only have 1 CCD which holds all the 3D v-cache meaning all 8 cores will be available during gaming.

As for the chip’s release date, now we know that it’s February 28th, it’s interesting that both Ryzen 9 X3D chips will arrive before the Ryzen 7 7800X3D debut, which was previously reportedly set for February 14th, before AMD denied that date while committing to February for the launch of the X3D. While we eagerly anticipate the release of the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, we can’t say for certain which CPU is the superior one just yet. However, based on the specs, it seems likely that the 7900X3D will outperform the 7900X due to its larger cache size. This cache acts as a storage space for frequently accessed data, which can greatly improve gaming performance. Despite the higher price tag, the improved performance may justify the investment for those who require the best possible performance in their gaming experience. Another difference between these two CPUs is the amount of L3 cache they offer. The Ryzen 9 comes with a whopping 128MB L3 cache, which is significantly more than the Ryzen 7’s 96MB. This extra cache can boost performance in certain applications requiring more memory. As far as a short summary goes, we’ll say one thing — both chips are excellent and their performance is worthy of a current-gen flagship. Right now, both are easily among the best processors on the market, and only high-end chips like the Intel Core i9-13900K can hope to beat either of the two Ryzens. If the 7900X3D does drop in price after release it will make its value for money only go up. If that does happen you can be certain that we will cover it here. Frequently asked questions What is a 3D cache?

We should start off by pointing out the obvious. Neither of these CPUs is budget-friendly. Instead, they offer some of the most powerful specs and stats available but expect to pay for them. We've experienced that single-core performance is essential for some games, as many don't take full advantage of multiple cores. AMD has confirmed that each chiplet of the 7900X3D contains 6 active cores, ensuring a balanced configuration across the processor. This eliminates any uneven setups where, for instance, one chiplet would contain 8 cores with 3D V-Cache while the other has only 4 cores without it. Both processors belong to the same generation (Zen 4) and offer some impressive specs, but they have some differences that set them apart from each other. Starting with the core count, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D has 12 cores and 24 threads, while the Ryzen 7 7800X3D has 8 cores and 16 threads. This gives the Ryzen 9 a clear advantage in multitasking and running resource-intensive applications. Specs

Things get interesting when we look at gaming, which was always going to be the primary use case for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The verdict is clear — the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is the best gaming CPU right now, and will likely stay that way for a long time. The new chip manages to snatch the crown away from Intel in quite a few titles. In Gears Tacticsand Hitman 3, Intel was able to beat the base Ryzen 9 7950X, but the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is now here to defeat both processors. It leads in every game versus Intel and AMD, sometimes showing an improvement of up to 25% against the base version. However, Intel remains victorious in synthetic benchmarks and AI workloads. This technology involves a 64MB SRAM die that supplements the 32MB on-die L3 cache of one of the two CCDs present in these processors. The combined 96MB cache has a significant impact on computing latencies, particularly when it comes to gaming. With this enhanced cache, users can expect improved gaming experiences, faster processing times, and overall better system performance. Ryzen 7900X3D: Performance In the single-core and multi-core results, we see about 10 percent faster results on the 7700X versus the 7800X3D, which has the same basic eight-core, 16-thread design as the new chip but at higher frequencies as it doesn't need to accommodate the 3D V-Cache. That corresponds to the 7800X3D scoring 706 for single-core and 7108 for multi-core in Cinebench R20 compared to 768 and 7894 respectively for the 7700X.
