About this deal

look at the actual performance with these adapters, instead of quoting people who don't know how to use cameras: You can use a 50mm lens for both portraits and outdoor scenes. It has a shallow depth of field that’s wide enough for gorgeous landscapes. The focal length works wonders when composing shots. The Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM for Sony E-Mount ships with a good quality soft case and strap and also a large plastic petal-shaped lens hood. It accepts 86mm filters.

In general autofocus is fast and reliable. Eye AF works like a charm on my a7RIII. For portraiture I have absolutely no complaints. When it comes to portrait lenses, I personnally care a lot more about the overall look of the picture, the transition from in-focus to out-of-focus areas, the bokeh and the 3D pop. as a long time GM85 user, i can definitely know it's sharpness at F1.4 and i could never seen similar sharpness on Sigma F1.4 shots available on the net so far. GM85 at F1.4, in terms of sharpness, winner. For Nikon’s DSLR users, I recommend the Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.8Fand Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4G. The Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.8F is super light, much smaller, and about half the price of the Sigma. For a beginner, the Nikon option is the perfect tool for learning. For the price you pay, the image sharpness and smooth bokeh are unparalleled.Yes, if you use the Metabones IV ;) like i use every of my EF-Lenses on A72 - everytime perfect focus. That was the reason why i sold my 6D... Another comparable lens is also by Canon—the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM.This Canon has the same bulky feeling as the Sigma, but the quality of the bokeh and image sharpness are unbeatable. Take note, it costs three times more than the Sigma. I own the Canon 85 f1.2 but the Sony, Sigma and old Sony a mount stf lens (and likely the forthcoming stf) are all very different and all excellent. Look...I own the Sigma 20mm, 35mm and 50mm ART lenses. In spite of all the cryin about AF etc....I love mine. Love them. I would consider selling my 35mm to buy the new Canon...but that being said... when it comes to this lens...well...I own the Canon 85mm f/1.2L II. Some of the images I have shot with that lens are just magical. You cannot define them on an MTF curve. I know it focuses slow, has CA etc..etc..etc...but I will not even consider this new Art lens. I mean...I cannot justify owning or carrying both..as this would be good for times of fast focus....but to be honest ..I can just as well put on my 24-70mm zoom or break out the 70-200mm if i must. I just would never replace that 85mm f/1.2. That thing is very special in the rendering and DOF dept. There is magic in there...and those silly Sony lenses have none of that either. Don't really care what anyone thinks. :-)

Besides these points there are only positive things to notice like the almost APO like correction of chromatic aberrations, very nice bokeh and outstanding sharpness. Due to the limited size and weight the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is not a specialty lens of which you think twice before bringing it, but a fast portrait lens that easily finds its way into your bag.Interestingly my comparisons revealed the lens displays greater pincushion distortion than Sigma’s 85mm f1.4 DG HSM Art so some users may want to apply a small amount of manual distortion correction in post.
