About this deal

Bender: 33MP translates only into 15% more edge length, and even 61MP will get you a little over 50% more. As you’d expect, the S5IIX’s screen preview matches the captured image/video well but as usual, it can be hard to see some details in bright conditions. This makes an external monitor with greater brightness and/or a hood an attractive option in some instances. Compared to its predecessor, the S5 II is a real movie-making beast, and the S5 was already pretty good in that respect itself. But Panasonic has also launched the Lumix S5 IIX, which is even more of a beast, with a slightly higher price tag and a slightly longer wait before you can buy one (it is due to ship in May 2023).

Panasonic has always excelled at hybrid cameras which emphasis on video. The addition of phase detect is long over due upgrade. Panasonic Lumix S5IIX Review | ePHOTOzine

The Panasonic Lumix S5 II and S5 IIX seem very similar cameras. What are the differences and which is right for you? Stills quality is great too. The 24MP resolution is standard fare in 2023 for an all-rounder full-frame camera, and the S5 II has excellent noise control and dynamic range. I like to shoot low key in bright weather to maintain highlights, and brightening those images in post reveals clean detail in dark shadows. You’ll get more detail from a higher-resolution camera like the Sony A7 IV, but few other cameras at this price range can better the S5 II. Uh...compare to cameras that aren't there yet? What's the point of that, please? You compare the cameras that are currently available and fit your needs. Anything else is nonsensical. All cameras regardless of Price aren't 100 percent accurate on AF. So when I hear any ytuber claiming otherwise, I no longer will watch them. Be that Pros or otherwise. I have seen plenty of Flagship cameras missing Focus on a ton of different subject types. Regardless of whom is holding and using the Camera. I used to have Samyangs, such as 18/2.8 and 1st gen Sony, such as 28/2 and 50/1.8, which are all not the best in corners wide open.

That screen is crisp and clear, and provides full touch control for navigating menus, selecting focus points and taking photos, while the viewfinder display is decent enough, with a 3.69m-dot resolution and solid refresh rate. Contrast / Highlight / Shadow / Saturation / Color Tone / Hue / Filter Effect / Grain Effect / Color Noise / Sharpness / Noise Reduction / ISO / WB / LUT Video-vs-photo - Well yeah I am aware of the rolling shutter values of most cameras from the last five or ten years. For a full frame 6k readout, most recent cameras have been around 20ms, probably on average a range from 16-28ms, kinda like you said. They're pretty much all roughly the same (slower than what I'd want) unless you crop in.

Image quality is broadly comparable, with the Sony offering slightly better detail capture at low ISO but slipping a little behind in low light conditions. The Sony offers the most impressive battery life but also the weakest rolling shutter performance in video, making it more difficult than ever to choose between the four cameras.I for one just sold my Fuji x100v and was on the fence buying a XH2 with 33mm 1.4 (for Hybrid shooting). This camera is said to be RS 21ms. Latest and greatest Canon R6II do have 17ms, and Sony a7IV has 27ms!!! What the company has said is that its algorithms have been re-worked and that the camera assesses camera motion more precisely. We've been impressed with what we've seen from the S5 II so far, in terms of keeping both stills still and video clips smooth. The Boost IS mode, which tries to cancel all movement for a tripod-like video look, is particularly impressive.

Hands on with the Panasonic Lumix DC-S5 II: Digital

You know nothing you even mention cameras that haven't released yet. And you also don't have a bunchload of cameras.

Stills Features

I'm still trying to figure out how having 3 large vents in the top of the camera doesn't undermine the weather sealing. Or answer the question of how Sony will solve its stabilization problem in the future with its small mount. GenericName all true, but here in this gallery it does not seem to affect any end result. Missed shots here would be speculation, but largely unlikely. While Panasonic says the sensor in the S5 II is also new, from what we've seen its performance appears to be similar to its non-phase-detect predecessor, which suggests that its newfound ability to shoot at up to 30fps in e-shutter mode is more about having a processor able to cope with this speed.
