A DVD copy of the film and a Movies Anywhere The movie looks great. But i didn't like a bit about the painting style they used to do it. It's more like CGI brush painting style or cell shading. I liked the previous painting style, it felt more natural. Here’s hoping it’s a 3D extravaganza on par with Dreamworks Animation’s prior films, rather than a native post-conversion as The Bad Guys was. Been a Cat lover and did enjoy this character in Shrek, I will buy this one once I visit my local store. Then there's the characters. In addition to doing amazing work with Puss, the cast of supporting ones is superb. Every character is fully rounded. And gets their own storylines with a beginning a middle and an end. We also get a really great villain. A character who is out and out bad. Who know they're that way. And goes with it. That's the way to write a great villain. They do have motivation, so they are three dimensional. But bad with it anyway. It's great. environments. There are ample times where near field objects, and multi-staged atmospherics places you inside the scene as sounds rotate and revolve around the sound field from both above and at ear level. While this is not what I would regard as an aggressive Atmos mix, it is an active one, that complimented the source material and made for an entertaining listening experience. was the last time a feature film of Puss in Boots was available, leaving a very wide gap in between with a TV series that lasted a few seasons, but little impact made with the character since. It’s certainly not unusual as Pixar also eventually caved and made sequels to some of their biggest and most-respected films, many of which are now considered classics in their own right. In the case of The Last Wish, it’s a nearly 180-degree turn from its predecessor. The original film was more of what you’d expect from DreamWorks Animation with lowbrow humor and characters that have just enough substance to get you through thinly-constructed stories to hang cute characters and modern references on. The Last Wish tosses nearly all of that out the window for something deeper and more meaningful. It’s a story that not only has some teeth, in the form of scary images and occasional blood, but very human, very adult concerns and thematics. The fear of getting old and facing death is universal, and none of the characters in the DreamWorks world have ever had to do that, not to this degree. Puss is terrified by Wolf, as he should be. He’s incredibly menacing and narrow-minded with a single purpose. He’s resolute, can’t be reasoned with, and waits in the shadows for Puss to fall into his clutches. In other words, he’s a Grim Reaper of sorts, and he’s portrayed as such.
