Apply an absorbent cover dressing (XTRASORB® super absorbent dressings are recommended due to the highly osmotic effect of MEDIHONEY®) Also know as Manuka honey, it is derived from the pollen and nectar of a specific Leptospermum species of plant in New Zealand MEDIHONEY calcium alginate dressings can be safely worn for up to seven days. Change the dressing as soon as the secondary bandage reaches its absorbent capacity, or as prescribed by your loved one’s primary care physician. Apply the MEDIHONEY gel or paste directly to the wound. If you’re using a calcium alginate dressing, use sterile scissors to resize it, and then gently apply the dressing to the wound bed.
