About this deal

Reacher is in Key West, digging pools by hand and moonlighting as a bouncer for a topless bar. He discovers the body of a New York investigator hired by "Mrs. Jacob" to find him. He finds out that she is attorney Jodie Garber, daughter of General Leon Garber, Reacher's recently deceased mentor and surrogate father in the Army. She wants his help investigating her father's last project, a search on behalf of the elderly parents of their military MIA son. Having inherited a house and gained a steady girlfriend, Reacher contemplates a sedentary life as he and Jodie find themselves hunted by a psychopath businessman and military criminal crippled in the Vietnam War, who has a shadowy business and other secrets to protect. And without fear. Which is good, because trouble—big, violent, complicated trouble—finds Reacher wherever he goes. And when trouble finds him, Reacher does not quit, not once…not ever. Yes, the technique is one Child uses elsewhere, too --- the precise amount of time; the preview of the outcome before the slow, deliberate unfolding of the scene -- but it certainly grabs you here. They'll throw away the key," I said. "I screwed up, it was an accident, but they aren't going to listen. They never do. So don't ask me to go anywhere near anybody. Not as a witness, not as nothing. I'm out of here like I don't exist. We absolutely clear on that?" After purchasing six dollars worth of paper and pencils, he decided to try his hand at writing. Lee Child then wrote his first Reacher novel, “Killing Floor.” Reacher novels are not the only works that Lee Child has published. He has also written the short stories, “Second Son” and “Deep Down.” These are now available as eBooks. Child moved to New York in the summer of 1998. This is where he met his wife, Jane. It is to her that his 2012 book, “A Wanted Man” is dedicated. Together they have a grown daughter, an apartment in Manhattan and a home in the south of France. Child also counts his numerous plane rides between his two domiciles as his “third home.”

I’m not sure if you misread but Reacher didn’t die in The Sentinel. There’s a new Reacher book coming out later this year 🙂 Reply Whoever the enemy is, Reacher knows that the only way to stop him is to match his ruthlessness and cunning, and beat him at his own dangerous game. Ah, yes, the warning of what lies ahead, and then the slow, suspenseful roll-out of just what exactly went wrong ..... The message is what draws their attention as the courier states that an American wants one hundred million dollars. They don’t know who is asking, who they are asking from, or what they are giving in return; and this group is tasked with finding all that out. Time isn’t on their side and all they know is that they need to find this man before an epic act of terrorism is committed. Their mission will send them from Langley to Hamburg, Jalalabad to Kiev as they try to stop this act of terror. Temperance Brennan is being investigated for the murder of a reporter who was re-opening an old suicide case that Reacher investigated. Included in MatchUp, a collection of co-authored short stories by male and female thriller authors (Lee Child and Kathy Reichs).

Thanks! I didn’t think of the book as a character introduction—after all, this is his seventh appearance––but it seems to be working that way. Reacher is an interesting guy. He’s a self-reliant ex-military cop. He has no possessions, no commitments, no family. He enjoys his solitude, but he worries about loneliness. He’s brave, for sure—like many military people are—but more than that he’s committed to doing what’s right. That’s an important part of his character. He’s tough and ruthless and he breaks the rules, but his heart is in the right place. First-time readers will see that in the very first chapter of Persuader––here, he’s hunting a man who wronged him ten years ago. Not a smart move on that guy’s part. The book details some of the exploits of Reacher as he tries to convince an unwilling populace that he is not guilty of the crime he is accused of committing. The book details Reacher’s interactions with a detective by the name of Findlay one of his main accusers. There are other characters that feature prominently in the novel as well. Some of the other characters of note that are part of the plot in the Kililng Floor include Chief Morrison and his wife who also are murder victims. There is also a multi billion dollar counterfeiting ring that comes in play in the action of this award wining book. There are other sorts of interesting plot twists within this novel that many people will read. Use this story for a great summer read and enjoy the time to delve into this exciting and powerfully written novel.

I’m 42 in July, just got into this series, these are incredible stories, I’m fixed. A absolutely amazing author, and a brilliant, brilliant, character!!!! Umm ... no: aside from being a physical impossibility, surely a miss would just swing Reacher uncomfortably around. I glanced at him. He was thin and pale and crunched up again as far from me as he could get. His hand was resting against the door. His long fingers made him look a little like a musician. I think he wanted to like me, but I didn't need him to.It is Quinn who is in control -- but, as noted, Quinn isn't really a presence until deep into the book. Scott Shane's outstanding work Flee North tells the little-known tale of an unlikely partnership ... After high school, he went to law school, but upon graduating actually got involved with part-time theater work. When his time there was over he went to work for Granada Television in Manchester for 18 years. Thanks Graeme, if there’s anything I can do to help implement the solution let me know (even if you just need someone to listen to your solution) as I worked in all areas of IT so might be able to help 🙂 Reply

Better Off Dead: When Reacher is out for a walk in the hot desert sun when he comes across a Jeep that has crashed into a tree with its driver slumped over the wheel. The woman isn’t dead, thankfully. Sure: "I broke every regulation and ignored every procedure in the book" -- but readers would expect nothing less.

There was a big sprawling out-of-town shopping mall nestled south and west of the highway interchange. I could already see it in the distance. There were giant tan buildings with no windows and bright neon signs. There were giant parking lots about half-filled with cars. I pulled in and drove once around the whole place. It was as big as a town. There were people everywhere. They made me nervous. I came around again and headed in past a line of trash containers to the rear of a big department store.

And Reacher came onto her radar when he started looking into the dead man he saw, who apparently has some connection to the drug dealers.Paulie -- with biceps so big he can't touch his shoulders with his fingers -- takes a dislike to Reacher, and the feeling is mutual; from the first, they get into a series of confrontations -- and, yes, it all builds to one hell of a final clash.
