About this deal

Fred also loves to write and draw his own silly comic strips and is currently writing his first children's book. My Review: Unicorn NOT Wanted by Fred Blunt was 50% cuteness and 50% comedy magic. From the cover to the content, I was entirely enchanted. Welcome to the Wild West, where there are plenty of cacti, and golden sunsets for riding off into, but NO UNICORNS! (Or pugs, for that matter.) Cave drawings of unicorns have been found all over the world, from France to South Africa and South America. Unicorns get about. If you are a liar, it is said a unicorn will pierce you through the heart with its horn, which is blunter than it looks, so this would not be a particularly fun way to go.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. One of Prince George's christening presents was allegedly a hairbrush made with the hair from a unicorn's mane. The Duchess of Cambridge uses it. My Final Say: Kids will adore this book. Families will have a great time together as they read through this work. Librarians will rush to add this title to their story time hour. Lovers of kid lit will totally appreciate the ADVENTURE, DRAMA, ACTION, and...COWBOYS! (See what I did there? 😁) Fred never wanted to be an astronaut or drive a train when he grew up. Right from the beginning he knew he wanted to draw silly pictures for a living... and some decades later he's living the dream! However, while I realize that this book isn’t *supposed* to be taken too seriously, I do not think that the inclusion of the unicorn throwing a temper tantrum which then results in the author caving in to her demand to be included in the book is a wise decision. Every children’s book is learning opportunity for our young readers, and presenting this behavior as an effective choice seems irresponsible.

Unicorn NOT Wanted is the best unicorn-free unicorn book. My 7 year old son laughed out loud and demanded we read it again. That is the highest praise a children's book can receive.

The underlying message given in this book gets golden hearts and sparkly diamonds from this reader. Shipments to the USA & Canada: This is an absolutely hilarious book about being unique and confident. It has a very positive message. The drawings are colourful and the writing is really funny too. Unicorn NOT Wanted is one of those adorable books with unexpected characters popping up over and over again. There were several moments I was grinning ear-to-ear even if it was a touch predictable. The added bonus with this super fun read was...the word play and the use of exclamatory statements! It made the story that much more entertaining. Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Happy Yak and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy. I think that this would be a perfect book in preschool and prekindergarten classrooms. Younger students will be drawn in with the colorful illustrations and the comical characters of the story. Unicorns *Not* Wanted offers a fun response to the current cultural obsession with unicorns. I really enjoyed the playful art style and the silliness of how the unicorn and pug disguised themselves in an effort to try to be included in the book. Such a funny picture book that DOES NOT include a unicorn and a pug. The story is lovely and entertaining. It follows a conversation between the narrator and two characters: a unicorn and a pug. They are both not allowed in the story! But will they take part in the end? And would we have another unicorn story?Mae Bear yn wahanol i unrhyw arth arall welwch chi fyth. Mae'n arth â PHEN ÔL NOETH! Ac mae eirth â phenolau noeth yn hoffi dawnsio... Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.
