About this deal

I guess I never have the budget for a 3K lens but even I have, I find it very difficult to justify the cost and weight VS the usage. With bodies released in the past two years, we start seeing very usable shoots at 6400. This should be easily a compensation for not having a 2.8 zoom, is not like most people shoot 6400 all the time. Oh yes there is the Bokeh everyone is so over doing which I think is better done with a long fast prime. Handling-wise, the A7 II resembles a downsized DSLR, with a forward-placed shutter release button and front control wheel. It also has a deeper, more comfortable handgrip than its forebear. Lets start with Fuji, they have been making lens for 80 year so optics is not a problem for them, they just have to work out the sensor. Which is X-trans and its working out quite well for them. Very interesting. I’ve thinking of the Sony Alpha 7II for some time now, and the only reason I stil haven’t switched is the price.

Sony Alpha a7 II Review - Digital Photography Review

The A7 II’s controls are sensibly arranged and the menu systems logically structured. Just below the shutter release, at the top of the grip, you’ll find a small protruding dial that’s used for exposure adjustments. There are also customisable buttons, but, oddly, the rear LCD here isn’t a touch-sensitive panel. On the white balance thing this is easy. Find some white object - piece of white paper (not yellowish recycled one). Open your white balance settings (this is either in the menu or can be assigned a button or put in the Fn menu). From the WB settings select "SET" at the very bottom. POoint your camera to the white paper (there is little circle in the middle of the screen/evf that should be over the paper). Press the center button on the rear wheel. Select one of the 3 registers where you want to store the current measurement. You are all set! Colors should be more accurate. October 16 of 2013 marks an important milestone in the history of photography, because it is the date when Sony announced world’s first full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Sony A7 and A7R. The Sony A7, being the cheaper model aimed for general use, sports a 24 MP sensor and offers hybrid autofocus, while the A7R with its high resolution 36 MP sensor is targeted at more specific types of photography including landscape, architecture, studio and product photography. I understand that not everyone will agree with me on that, but compared to the Fuji line of cameras such as the Fuji X-T1, my Leica M9 rangefinder, and the sexy looking Nikon Df, it’s obvious that Sony wasn’t going for pretty looks. Enlarged display mode (L: 18.8x, M: 12.3x, S: 9.4x, Panorama (Standard): 25.6x, Panorama (Wide): 38.8x)Compact, lightweight design, features a robust magnesium alloy body and lens mount that's dust and moisture resistant. Get peace of mind that your gear will survive if the weather becomes unfriendly. While the A7 II’s tilting screen is useful when shooting low-level landscape-orientation images, like most screens it suffers a little from reflections and glare in very bright conditions. And of course, a tilting screen is of little use when shooting upright format images. The Sony A7II isn’t winning any awards for its good looks – it is pretty much one of the ugliest cameras I’ve ever seen! No, the company going bust is Olympus. Their medical endoscope business keeps them alive. Several of their board members are under investigation for fraud. I come from the original 10D so I've had my fair share of experience with lower MP, believe me. And I'm all for the "it's about the story, not the image" stuff. Still, there is a need for higher res in certain applications. Photos of the kids' soccer game certainly doesn't need 18MP or 22MP, but when for a big swimsuit or fashion shoot, c'mon, let's be realistic, we need all the detail we can get.

things you need to know about the Sony Alpha 7 II Ten things you need to know about the Sony Alpha 7 II

The color that the sensor of the Sony A7II puts out are very similar to that of the original Sony A7S, which was praised for its better color rendering and AWB than the previous Sony A7 and Sony A7R. If you want something better than the A6000, Sony wants you to go FF. They won't release a high-end APSC body cannibilazing their own FF camera sales. All the lens development is FF. Thanks much. I already have a Pentax 28/3.5 shift lens (and a slew of PK film lenses), so all I'd need is a PK to Sony adapter. I almost always use a tripod to allow for better composition and to insure my perspective control is right. Also I can use lower ISOs to lessen noise -- I am shooting with film lenses here, which need a somewhat heavy hand on sharpness Amount, Clarity, and Contrast in ACR. The less noise the better. I use manual exposure kind of as a holdover from the film days, but it can be more accurate when using lenses that don't connect electronically to the camera. That said, I appreciate your comments about the A7 and it's great to know the dynamic range is so good. The Pentax K-5 shows 14 or 15 stops DR at ISO 80, which I much appreciate. I can imagine the A7 being similar, as the K-5 uses a Sony sensor :). The "flawed" mentioned above mainly relates to some glitches in AUTO mode, which I never use anyway. Thanks again. When we were shooting outside in bright winter sunshine and using the A7 II’s 1200-zone evaluative metering system, we found that many of our images benefitted from dialling in a little negative exposure compensation. The benefit of an electronic viewfinder is that you can see the impact of any exposure adjustments before taking the shot, so the need for exposure compensation isn’t a major drama. In addition, the Sony A7 II came with in-body image stabilization (IBIS), which interested me a lot – with so many different adapters available for other lens mounts, the A7 II looked rather promising as a versatile tool that could stabilize pretty much any lens on the market. And that in itself sounded really good, so off I went with my journey to assess the new Sony A7 II. The included FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame sensors, offering exceptional optical performance with the a7 II. Also, it never mentions any of the app driven aspects, where you can do some neat post processing, upload to social media automatically and best yet, use your phone as a viewfinder when trying to take shots of groups or even when putting the camera on crazy ledges in nature. Sony's lithium-ion rechargeable NP-FW50 battery lasts up to 350 stills on a single charge, while the innovative InfoLITHIUM battery system lets you see the power percentage remaining so you can shoot with confidence.
