Samsung’s second-generation 5G modem, the Exynos 5123, also appeared in the global version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. It supports 800Hz mmWave connectivity and 200MHz of Sub-6 5G; as mentioned, the Verizon version of the Pixel 6 is the only model with mmWave antennae. In terms of colour performance, the Pixel 6 is near faultless. With a measured Delta E (colour accuracy) of 1.73 in sRGB with the phone’s Natural display setting selected, colours looked pretty much bang on, with only a few minor inconsistencies in some greyscale tones. Switch over to the Adapted or Boosted display modes and these dial up the colour saturation to a considerable degree. Nevertheless, we kept the Pixel 6 in the official Google case throughout testing, and while it doesn’t add much weight, it did make the already generously-sized phone feel bigger – which might be alarming for those who like smaller handsets. Comparing the Google Tensor processor with the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 mobile platform is difficult. Google created the Tensor SoC to realize experiences for Pixel devices that would otherwise be impossible or cumbersome. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, on the other hand, was developed as a turnkey solution for smartphone manufacturers; it provides plenty of power, but the manufacturer has to figure out exactly how to create experiences within the limitations of the platform. The haptics or vibrations that recreate a sense of touch for buttons and other interactions are really sharp and good compared with most Android competitors. However, the proof is in the photos – and whether compared to images captured on a flagship such as the iPhone 12 Pro, or earlier Google phones such as the Google Pixel 5a, the Pixel 6 takes better photos. There’s more nuance in the color and shadows, along with more true-to-life temperature that reflects real conditions. The Pixel 6’s new “Face Unblur” feature also works tremendously well. When it detects a face in the frame while shooting in portrait mode, the ultrawide camera captures an image with a faster shutter speed than the primary lens as soon as you press the button. The Pixel 6 then combines the two pictures in an effort to reduce blur on a moving subject. Here’s the final image after telling my fiancée to spin around for a bit.

While it's not surprising that the Google Pixel 6 takes great photos given how much its predecessors have been capable of, the Pixel line has been doing wonders with 12MP cameras for years – and we wondered what Google's new phone could do with its 50MP main camera and Tensor chipset. On the rear, the Pixel 6 has a 50-megapixel main shooter with an 82-degree field of view and f/1.85 aperture, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with 114-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture.Furthermore, the aspect ratio of the Google Pixel 6 256 GB 8 GB is 20:9 so that you can enjoy vivid and crystal clear visuals while watching videos, playing games, or streaming movies online.. What's most impressive about the Pixel 6's modem, however, is its connectivity. We tested it in dozens of urban and rural locations across two states never encountered a poor signal. It consistently reached higher speeds than the iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra we tested in the same locations.

Low-light photos appear solid as well, but there are some differences between the Pixel 6 and its predecessor. First off, we noticed blooming in nearly all of our low-light test shots. Some shots suffer from a loss of fine detail, which is to be expected, but Google seems to be more aggressive with noise cancellation than in the past. In exchange for those noise-free photos, you lose texture and more nuanced variations in light. 2x zoom photos are crisp While the Pixel 6's cameras may have their faults, you will have trouble finding a better setup on any similarly priced Android phone in the US. Ultimately, the phone is capable of excellent shots with some minor tweaks and adjustments. Midrange Android Excellence The front of the phone houses an 8MP, fixed-focus sensor with an 84-degree field of view. Its large 1.12μm pixel pitch and wide f/2.0 aperture yield excellent results in any lighting condition. It's difficult to tell much difference between it and the 11.1MP camera on the more expensive Pixel 6 Pro. Our test photos look crisp, with excellent color accuracy and a natural depth of field. Portrait mode worked flawlessly as well. The selfie camera is on par with the 11.1MP lens on the more expensive Pro model According to Google, Tensor delivers “up to 80% more performance than Pixel 5”, which runs on a Snapdragon 765G. In typical Google fashion, the search giant says its AI features enable better performance across a slew of machine-learning-specific tasks. At 6.2 by 2.9 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and 7.3 ounces, the Pixel 6 is more manageable than the bigger Pro model (6.5 by 3.0 by 0.4 inches, 7.4 ounces). You can wrap your hand around the phone and its buttons are easy to reach.Low light performance on the main camera is very good, while the dedicated night sight mode works wonders on all three cameras in very dim scenes. The 11.1MP selfie camera is also very good and can shoot normal and ultrawide photos for when you need to fit more people into a group shot. How about that Magic Eraser tool? In a word, it’s magic. If a stranger, overhead cable or lamppost is photobombing what would otherwise be an Insta-worthy picture, all you’ve got to do is edit the image, select Magic Eraser in the Tools section and draw an outline with your finger around what you want removed. The Pixel 6 then takes care of the rest in a couple of seconds. The Pixel 6 also gets a significant leg up when it comes to gaming. In the GFXBench onscreen Manhattan 3 test, the Pixel 6 achieved an average frame rate of 79fps, which, if you take a look at the graph below, is almost three times faster than last year’s phone. Blimey. From local speech and object recognition to camera processing and photo editing, all of Google’s more advanced systems certainly run faster on the 6 Pro than on the previous Pixel 5. But comparing like for like with rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 9 Pro proved difficult.
