About this deal

This leaflet does not contain all the information about your medicine. If you have any questions or are not sure about anything, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The first two medicines are called dried aluminium hydroxide gel and magnesium hydroxide. They belong to a group of medicines called antacids

Maalox Plus should not be taken at the same time as other medicines. This is because Maalox Plus can affect the way other medicines work. If Maalox Plus is taken within one hour of any other medicine, it can affect the uptake of that medicine into the blood. Very rare: Hypermagnesemia, including observations after prolonged administration of magnesium hydroxide to patients with renal impairment This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard or search for MHRA Yellow Card in the Google Play or Apple App Store.Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide which are antacids to reduce stomach acid which help relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. Some medicines may be affected by magnesium hydroxide or they may affect how well magnesium hydroxide will work. If your doctor has prescribed this medicine you should follow the instructions given by your doctor. If your symptoms don't go away or get worse despite taking this medicine you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. The other medicine is called simeticone. It belongs to a group of medicines called anti-foaming agents

Equivalent of Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel 230 mg, Magnesium Hydroxide 200mg and Simeticone 25 mg in each 5 ml.

Large doses of this product may trigger or aggravate intestinal obstruction and ileus in patients at risk (see section 4.4). Hypophosphatemia, this may occur at high doses of the product or even at normal doses especially in patients with low phosphorus diets Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take one to two 5ml spoonfuls four times a day, 20 minutes to one hour after meals and at bedtime, as needed to relieve symptoms. Caution is advised when used concomitantly with polystyrene sulphonate due to the potential risks of reduced effectiveness of the resin in binding potassium, of metabolic alkalosis in patients with renal failure (reported with aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide), and of intestinal obstruction (reported with aluminium hydroxide).

Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are both medicines called antacids. They are used to reduce the acidity of the stomach's juices. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects get serious or lasts longer than a few days. Also tell them if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet Talk to your doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Remember to take any medicine that is left with you so that the doctor knows what you have taken. you are taking a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), eg aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, indometacin, naproxen, azapropazone, piroxicam, ketoprofen.Very common (≥1/10), common (≥1/100 to <1/10), uncommon (≥1/1,000 to <1/100), rare (≥1/10,000 to <1/1,000), very rare (<1/10,000), not known (cannot be estimated from available data)

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of the medicines listed below, as some medicines may be affected by Maalox Plus or they may affect how well Maalox Plus will work. In particular: Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or are taking any other medicines before taking Maalox plusTalk to your doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Remember to take any medicine that is left with you so the doctor knows what you have taken. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines you buy without a prescription, including herbal medicines. you have needed to use heartburn or indigestion remedies continuously for two or more weeks to control your symptoms
