About this deal

The Highland Falcon Thief is the first book in a brand new series - Adventures on Trains. I do like trains, and I like mysteries, and I like mysteries set on trains, so already I knew I was going to have fun with this one. And reader, I had so much fun! Even though the mystery was predictable, I absolutely enjoyed how the two kids solved the robbery. The two kids are so pure and precious, and also incredibly smart and brave. The friendship between Harrison and Lenny was so genuine and real, I felt such warmth in my heart by seeing how much the two would do for one another. Like Murder on the Orient Express but better . . . a terrific read! -- Frank Cottrell Boyce, author of Millions

They also help explain some of the more technical train ‘stuff’ allowing us to find out more and understand enough to follow parts of the plot that rely on the train and its workings without becoming bogged down. This is also true of the way the driver and fireman, Mohanjit and Joey, tell Hal about what they’re doing and how things work. This book has clearly been carefully researched and, although I didn’t think of myself as being remotely interested in trains, like Hal I couldn’t help but be interested and impressed as I found out more! There are many high profile and super wealthy persons in this train and the women wears expensive jwellery. And one by one the jwellery starts disappearing. Education Shed Ltd, Severn House, Severn Bridge, Riverside North, Bewdley, Worcestershire, UK, DY12 1AB Countess of Arundel, Lady Elizabeth Lansbury - onboard with her dogs (Trafalgar, Viking, Shannon, Fitzroy and Bailey), her husband recently died After originally listening to this book a few months ago with my boys, I leaped at the chance to meet M G Leonard and we all greatly enjoyed her talk as well as helping to plot a murder mystery with her! I then spent the summer reading the rest of the series so far (the 6th arrives in the next few days) to my boys each night. In this fourth explorers adventure we meet Ursula, a part mermaid girl who is determined to follow in Stella's footsteps and help her to defeat the Collector! Wrong! It soon becomes apparent that there’s a jewel thief on board, and not just that but a stowaway too! As Hal begins to investigate, he also gets a very practical and hands on (probably more hands on than he’d like at times!) education in steam locomotives and, even better, makes a friend. Adventures on Trains is a major mystery series for young readers, from bestselling authors M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman. Beautifully illustrated by Elisa Paganelli. The Highland Falcon Thief is a great detective story set on a train. There are loads of strong and funny characters; especially the two main detectives: Hal and Lenny. At first, I thought it would be an easy mystery to solve – but I was wrong! The story became exciting with lots of clues and puzzles – and I enjoyed trying to solve the crime – although sometimes my predictions were incorrect! In the third mysterious tale of Eerie-on-Sea, it's almost Ghastly Night, and the Shadowghast—an ancient spirit in a lantern—lurks in wait for the power to enslave the town.

I loved this book.I liked the way Hal and Lenny are willing to do whatever it takes to stop the thief: that is true determination. Big Ideas for Young Thinkerswritten by Jamia Wilson, illustrated by AndreaPippins (Wide Eyed Editions)The Highland Falcon Thief is the first book in the Middle Grade Mystery series, Adventures on Trains, by writing duo, M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman. The Story of the Blue Planet, Andri Snær Magnason, Julian Meldon D’Arcy, (translator), Áslaug Jónsdóttir (Illustrator), (Pushkin Press)

This leads me to my other problem, which is that Lenny is basically a pointless character. She jumps to the Red Herring conclusion and then the kids have no other conversation about it being someone else, never look into anyone else. And then, she's separated from Hal at the integral point - never gets curious about the obvious clue she has access to (that Hal eventually uses to solve the mystery), which btw is *very* out of character for her. I expected her to have gone through everyone's luggage. Hal doesn't talk to her about his suspicions, he never consults her etc... He just swoops in, says "I know who did it, you'll see..." and then goes on to solve the case.Like Murder on the Orient Express but better . . . a terrific read!’ – Frank Cottrell Boyce, author of Millions. This book is a classic whodunit mystery on a train but told through the detective skills of a child. The Author mixes a love of mystery and trains. It is an interesting story and does keep you interested. This change will allow us to provide our members with new features and capabilities. So things may change around Alex kan ook geweldig tekenen. Zo te zien loopt er dus genoeg creatief bloed door de familie. Want zijn oom is een beroemde schrijver.
