About this deal

As with the first volume of this series, I'm really not sure what I think of the book. It's very dark, which isn't a problem for me, but if nothing else I'm constantly feeling like on some level I'm not really understanding what I'm reading... This is Punpun Onodera’s coming-of-age story. His parents’ marriage is falling apart. His dad goes to jail, and his mom goes to the hospital. He has to live with his loser uncle. He has a crush on a girl who lives in a weird cult. Punpun tries talking with God about his problems, but God is a jerk. Punpun keeps hoping things will get better, but they really, really don’t. Based on the much-beloved Dragon Ball manga, this series will introduce a whole new audience to the fantastic adventures of Goku and his friends.

vm.Chapters[vm.Chapters.length-1].Type != '' ? vm.Chapters[vm.Chapters.length-1].Type : 'Chapter'}}That said, I felt like I particularly enjoyed this volume - having read it while I waited for my plane to take off (storms were brewing). Everyone in this manga needs therapy. Or any mental aid, anything will help at this point. WHO ASKS THAT? ESPECIALLY AT LIKE 12 YEARS OLD?? I swear to god, there is not one sane person in this manga. Inio Asano, a bona fide earthling, was born in Ibaraki, Japan in 1980. In 2001 his short story 'Uchuu kara Konnichiwa' (Hello from Outer Space) won the 1st Sunday GX rookie prize. Later GX published his series What a Wonderful World! (Subarashii Sekai). His other works include Hikari no Machi (City of Light), solanin (also published by VIZ Media) and Oyasumi Punpun. God had a strangely serious look on his face as he spoke to Punpun. "You know what I think, Punpun? There's a loneliness that's part of living as a human being that you can never get rid of."

Is that supposed to be a compliment?? Especially to someone you barely know?? Do people take that as compliments?? Please tell me no.They key thing about Punpun, in this volume and any others, is that I can feel the shitty realness of it. While Punpun's life in no way mirrors my younger years, I'm sure they mirror somebody's and I love that Punpun himself is basically an arsehole as it's so common for the protagonist to appear a demigod striding among mortals. Punpun is an arsehole and will probably always be an arsehole, I love him for that. From the TV in Mama's hospital room, a news report airs about a murderer who turned himself in; the bodies were discovered in an abandoned factory, and a possibly related fire is under investigation. Only, Mama is not in her room. Nurse Midori finds her and scolds her for smoking on the emergency stairwell. Mama confides that she hates kids and is not looking forward to being discharged tomorrow. Punpun's class cleans up for the end of semester while Punpun dreads breaking his promise to Aiko, who will kill him. Aiko tells Punpun in a note to meet her outside City Hall, while Harumi says goodbye to the class and a teary Sonoda. On their way home, Harumi gives his six-speed bike to Punpun and his playstation controller to Komatsu and promises to find more porn by next time they hang out. As Punpun considers riding his new bike to Kagoshima, Midori finds that Mama has gone missing again.

I am curious to see where this story is going to go. This volume felt like the calm before the storm. Two years later. Yuuichi and lawyer Yugami are now good friends. They have a lunch at the newly opened cafe, and Yuuichi recognizes the waitress, Midori, from somewhere. Komatsu, who had persuaded Punpun to join the middle school badmitton club with him, is the only underclassman allowed to skip boring drills and do normal practices. He gets chosen for the upcoming prefectural tournament. Aiko comes by the club after school and walks home with captain Yaguchi. Punpun trails them and spirals into a panic when he sees them hold hands. Meet Punpun Punyama. He's an average kid in an average town. He wants to win a Nobel Prize and save the world. He wants to go far away with his true love. He wants to find some porn. But Punpun's life is about to unravel... Punpun was an average kid in an average town...but things have changed. The love of his life wants to kill him. His parents got divorced. And God is being mean to him. What are you goign to do now, Punpun?

The plot of volume 4 felt very focused and I loved the reintroduction of Sachi Nanjo from Volume 3. While it's true that Punpun's life is, and probably always will be, a complete mess, it felt like he turned a corner in this volume and that made me happy. I've come to think of Punpun as one of my favourite imaginary book friends and I genuinely want him to do well out of life. Even when I felt like I was reading Bakuman towards the end of the volume, I didn't mind because I love Bakuman. AND THEN IT HAPPENS WITH MIDORI WHO'S 8 YEARS YOUNGER THAN HIM. At least she isn't a minor, but I'm questioning her sanity with her falling in love with an old bald pedophile. You hung out with him twice, and that was enough to cancel out his past??? Alright sweetheart alright. She's wasting her life, hanging out with Yuichi. The only reason he doesn't commit suicide everyday is because he wants to touch young girls. That is literally his one and only will to live. And when he gets tired of them and kills himself, you'll have to start all over again and find a new boyfriend. Because Yuichi can't commit to anything, he can't commit to marriage but proposes anyways. Man, I want to like this title more than I do. I usually don't mind stories that are bleak and depressing, but Asano takes it to a whole 'nother level. I'm no prude, but the side-story about Punpun's uncle made me so uncomfortable I could hardly stand it (no wonder the guy is so depressed). By publishing your document, the content will be optimally indexed by Google via AI and sorted into the right category for over 500 million ePaper readers on YUMPU. Here, Punpun runs into Papa, who asks him why he's crying, but Punpun denies any such thing. Papa asks if he was dumped by the little girl walking ahead and notes that although it's only been two months, Punpun seems much older. Papa talks of space and stars, and Punpun promises to bring him to Punpunia someday. Papa says he's not allowed to come by the house anymore, but he's moving to America soon to be a NASA space pilot. Punpun asks when they can meet again but knows his father is lying when he says "anytime". He goes home to his telescope to find that Punpunia has disappeared.

Sachi is unfortunately described in the book as being like Punpun's mother. She's got a hash tounge, and she's all about getting thr most out of her life. She's a tough character to get a handle on, but I like her design, her moving Punpun in a self-respecting direction. I'd be fine with her being his ultimate final partner in life, but I don't think that's in the cards (too many volumes left). Aiko finding happiness with someone else would be great, but I don't think that's happening. I'm a little worried about some of Sachi's comments too, her connection to the mother, and her stalker, that she may have a tragic fate in Punpun's life. Whelp, I'll try not to get attached any more than I am. Harumi and Komatsu go running and search for an exorcist to help them. Seki tries to open the door again, but it is too heavy to lift by himself. Shimizu calls to him through an upstairs window that there is a fire, right before part of the building explodes, sending a giant glass shard into the brim of Seki's hat. Through the smoke, the God of Poop appears to Shimizu. On the roof, the dark figures comes nearer and nearer to Punpun, until he pees through his and an unconscious Aiko's clothes.Like most kids his age, Punpun is in high school. In fact, he made it into the best high school in town. He is such a good student. He studies so he doesn’t have to think about his life. Maybe a meteor will crash into Earth and destroy everything.
