The Deerclops is the first non-event crossover boss, as well as the first pre-Hardmode crossover boss. We’re not talking about a pair of binoculars with a flashlight on them. These “toys” have IR illuminators and work in pitch darkness.
If the player is above the Deerclops for enough time, five shadow hands will be summoned around the player. Now only remains present in the Snow biome for 1 day when no players are present, instead of 3 days. If all players are dead or there are none nearby when it spawned naturally, the Deerclops will wander around instead of immediately despawning. This will happen until a player gets close to the boss, at which point the fight will resume as normal. It will despawn after a few minutes have passed while players are not near or upon leaving and re-entering the world. These would be fine for stationary night use (guard duty against woodland animals in your yard) and are better than not having any night vision at all. If you exit through the 13th Emergency Exit you have a chance of encountering "Neighfarious" who you can battle and attempt to befriend.
Deerclops' boss health bar will disappear from the screen when suitably far enough away from it that the boss fight is not active. Between the versions 1.4.3 and 1.4.3.6, there was an NPC named DeerclopsLeg in the files which did not actually appear during the fight. It was invincible [1] and had its own AI [2]. It was removed in the 1.4.4 update. I could see in the dark. I took them off and could see no light from the IR bulbs (on the “high” setting you can see them faintly). For the person who needs night vision on the cheap either of these would be good. Remember these are toys, but in a pinch would be better than not having night vision. If the player is more than 30 tiles away, the Deerclops will turn a dark shade purple, two reddish, semi transparent Deerclops' will begin spinning around it, and it becomes immune to all damage.
If someone is using another set of Night Vision goggles, this light will be as bright as a spotlight. Make sure to keep this in mind, and test before you end up in a SHTF situation. As for the yokai that appear there I'm sure there must be a japanese resource we can use but I don't know how to find that info. I can say that I know you can get rare yokai like Statiking, Swelterrier, Auntie heart, and Count Cavity in there if you go deep enough. Wotchagot - Alley at the right of Shopper Row. The clear winner in our books is the Spy Net Night Vision Infrared Stealth Binoculars, but your mileage may vary. These goggles are single power (1X), which means that they don’t magnify your view. Single power ensures that you won’t lose your depth perception. It won’t’ take much practice, before you’ll be able to navigate in total darkness, as easily as you do during the day.

The Deerclops Eyeball is a pet-summoning item that has a 25*1/4 (25%) chance of dropping from the Deerclops in Master Mode. It summons a Tiny Deerclops that will follow the player around. If it is too far away from the player, a bird will carry it by its horn to continue following the player. Avoid lingering directly above the Deerclops, as the shadow hands it summons in this situation are very dangerous.All other boss fights have either multiple bosses, multiple segments, or boss minions that play a part in their boss fights.
