About this deal
The Garrett AT Max has a 13.6 kHz operating frequency which makes this metal detector great at detecting and separating small targets. Although this is not a multi-frequency detector, the frequency can subtly be adjusted to eliminate interference from power lines and other metal detectors, but cannot be significantly changed.

One of the most obvious and anticipated physical improvements to the Equinox 900 is the introduction of carbon fibre in its construction. At Crawfords Metal Detectors we’ve seen thousands of users invest in aftermarket carbon fibre options to adapt their detectors, and so we are certain there will be a positive reaction to this decision. In Equinox you can adjust the target response. Low target response level allows hunting for targets located deep under ground, but at that the level of target distinguishing will be low. Because this machine allows you to place counterweights into the pre-designed slots, to get the balance just right and make your experience a lot more comfortable. Two years ago Minelab released the Equinox 600/800, and in the time since the CTX3030, electronics had made massive advances off digital products like smartphones.
Minelab Equinox 800 review - TheDetectorist
Only one problem: The FE adjustment did absolutely nothing at all, no matter where you set the adjustment at. It was just a dummy switch! At the time of writing this blog the Deus 2 is on Version 0.6 but as time goes on we have no doubt that we will see new programs, settings and increased performance with future software versions but it's unlikely we'll see any more major updates for the Equinox. One highly memorable experience we had comparing these detectors in the soil was with a target the DEUS 2 had found. It was a faint but repeatable and consistent 91-93 signal, enough to make me stop!
It seems like Minelab have changed their technology. At least the EQX coils have become a bit more lightweight – sealed in a different way + lighter coil cover. Not a great weight loss, of course, but at any rate they started the ball rolling. Seemingly it’s the coil on a straight-as-a-rod shaft (and it’s neither more nor less than a rod) that gives an imbalance. Plus, the grip tilt angle can’t be adjusted at all. A steep learning curve. The AT MAX is an incredible unit, but the learning curve can be discouraging for both new and advanced users. Its outstanding performance and quality, coupled with the positive reputation of the Minelab brand, makes it one of the best there is today. This is a complicated machine, but once you learn the language of the detector it’s the best one I have ever bought. For the money it’s immaculate!“
