About this deal

I like the clear sound of this amp, a hot side, which although very far from a real tube amp is still not bad. You guessed it, I hate the overdrive channel. I would buy a different amp. A Kustom or Ibanez or Orange or almost anything but a Rage. Other Peavey amps are very good, but this one is not that great.

The only things i would have a problem is that the distortion could have been better. The sound of it kinda breaks appart when you crank it up.

So if you are a musician looking for an amp that includes features and effects capable of producing custom sound, then I strongly recommend the Fender Mustang I V2. You can get more insights on the product here. That said, I only know 1 other good player who uses one on stage. It is not for everyone. You have to be able to dial it in and understand how it works. Most players dont have the patience or inclination to mess with them. Thats why you can buy them cheaply. But get it once, and you're set forever. What makes this and other Peavey's great is the reliabilty. They are built solid and you can bang it around and still be ok. Once again, the dials on the amp seem a little loose but so far they haven't come off or anything so I'm pretty sure they'll last. Also, despite this durability it is not a heavy amp and can easliy be lugged around. So you must consider selecting channels and effects based on the quality and tone of your style of music. Brand Value I like the size, and the quality of construction. I already owned a larger Peavey amp (Ultra 112) so I knew that Peavey made a reliable product.

Additional to these channels, the amp features two radically different voicing switches - modern and vintage. You can adjust the voicing based on the mood and tone of your piece of music. Preamp and Power amp Another great alternative to Peavey Rage 258 is the Roland Cube 10GX. It is almost similar to Rage 258 but with some more features. In addition to the 3 EQ bands, it includes chorus, delay, and reverb effects. These alternatives might fulfill your needs. If you are looking for something else in your amp, then you might want to consider the following recommendations: It is not just the powerful sound but also the incredible low tones that this amp offer keeps the audience moving and enjoying the bass guitar. The clean, natural, and organic sound makes it just the right fit for chorus singing. Two Switchable Channels: Clean and Lead Not a solo amp for anything with drums, but fine for everyday sketching, writing, busking (where there's mains), and lending to other musos (it's cheap).Despite the small size (8-inch super-duty Blue Marvel speaker), Peavey Rage 258 gives out powerful sound output. Whether it is a small band performance or a church choir, this amp produces a sound that is clear and loud at the same time and is hence a delight to the ears of the audience. I gave the exact serial numbers to peavey, that should be an individual number containing the epitet, mark III version of these. So i'm actually starting to doubt the support, since you tell me that mine is the III. Pointy logo, red stripe. Oldest redstripe? I'm not seeing anything on the layout, bill of material, or the shematics that i can identify as the reverb tank. Pan, yes. That's another word for it? It isn't very loud. The speaker projects a long way, so using it as an onstage monitor with DI to the desk is a poor move, as everyone else can hear if you're playing the wrong tune, but all you can hear is noise. Peavey Rage 258 is an excellent amplifier in itself, but it is not necessarily the only one. If the features and benefits of Peavey Rage 258 do not meet your requirements, then there are several other alternatives available in the market.

The clean sounds are typically Fenderien, very bright, saturated sound sounds like molasses unnamed. The amp is not terribly hard to dial in. It certainly doesn't sound stellar by any means, but you can dial it in for some passable tones, though certainly not as good ad the later Peavey Rage amps like the 158. The tones are a bit flat and generic sounding... the transtube technology that was refined on the 158 was simply stellar and had a wonderful tubelike tone. This amp just seems to sound very small and compressed, making the tones a bit more lifeless to my ears. wheelman wrote:Mine doesn't have a modern/vintage switch as some I've seen do but seems to have everything else the newer ones have. It is what I've seen called "Silver Stripe", I think.
