About this deal

The Continental 450ml Tyre Sealant is suitable for use with the Conti-Mobility Kit fitted as standard to Ford, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Nissan, Renault and Infiniti vehicles. At this point, all you need is to used the electric portable air compressor (I got an amazing one at Costco). You plug it into the car cigarette lighter plug, start the car, and connect it to the tire valve. Let it pump up the tire until it is up to pressure. If the tire is not hissing, the tire is totally drive-able. The Dimensions for the Continental Conti-Mobility Kit are: 180 x 249 x 95 mm, and only 2.3kg in weight. And even if you get away without needing a new tyre, you’ll still have to buy a replacement sealant bottle. Why don’t we have spare wheels any more? In my driving lifetime, I have almost NEVER had a flat that immediately released air in a hiss.. Most flats are found when you go to your car, and you see that it is flat. Or your dashboard TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System} has a light.

However, our new Acura was shipped with the Mobility kit only Acura replaced their goo with Acura Sealant, and it says this on the label: As I’ve already mentioned, the sealant won’t repair every puncture and it’s quite expensive. In addition, it’s not a permanent fix. It’s designed to get you home so you’ll need a new tyre as soon as possible. Slime" is a different product. They are a different chemistry. We should avoid calling the Conti sealant "Slime". The ONLY issue with using the Conti Mobility Kit is the inconvenience of clean-up prior to plugging/patching. The consumer is trading the CONVENIENCE of an emergency repair with the INCONVENIENCE of clean-up.

Highlights

When you are driving the re-inflated tire, I would keep an eye on the tire after a few miles, to ensure that the tire is still full of air. If the tire goes flat soon, then re-inflate and drive to a safe location or car repair place immediately. I would like to propose the following, because not all flats are the same... You do not always have to repair the tire or do any physical labor right at the scene of the flat "crime". Just FYI, the Continental Mobility kit that comes with the car states this warning about using the tire sealant:

The ContiComfortKit comfortably restores mobility in a few easy steps. The kit is simply plugged into the powerpoint outlet; a flexible hose at the other end is connected to the valve of the flat tire. Once the sealant tank is flipped up, a twelve volt compressor re-inflates the tire at the push of a button and simultaneously fills the tire with a liquid sealant, which seals the puncture. As a result, the tire can be used at a maximum speed of 50 mph for up to 125 miles. Drivers can get to the nearest tire shop and do not rely on road side assistance. A built-in light allows for easy use even at night. Tyre inflation kits combine a bottle of puncture-sealing adhesive gel with a compressor. You plug the bottle of mousse into the compressor which in turn plugs into the cigarette lighter or 12-volt outlet. This then pumps air and the gel into the tyre through the valve. As the air is pumped in it forces the gel to the outside of the tyre where it fills the hole that’s letting the air out. The whole process should take about 10 minutes. At least that’s the theory. Do mobility kits work? There is little risk of the subsequent patch/plug not bonding to the inside of the tire, IF IT IS CLEANED PROPERLY. (water...water...water...) and buffed properly. Tomorrow’s mobility is connected, individual, flexible and sustainable. We already offer our customers smart solutions today, creating innovative service offerings that also ensure individual mobility in the future. Continental Mobility Services supports you in developing and implementing comfortable, safe and efficient solutions for future mobility in and around vehicles. You may also find that some garages are reluctant to fix tyres where puncture sealant has been used. This is because it can be messy stuff to deal with. However, there’s no technical reason why a tyre shouldn’t be repaired (assuming it’s legal to do so) if gel like this has been used. Should you take the tyre to be repaired, just make sure you mention to the technician that a sealant has been pumped in.No, the Acura tire sealant and inflator kit sealant will not affect the TPMS sensors or system in the vehicle (other sealants may, however). If the tire is repaired after using the supplied sealant, the sealant should be flushed from the TPMS sensor using cool water." Having the Continental Conti Mobility Kit on board will mean that you will no longer require a spare wheel and tyre, so saving you up to 18kg weight and saving you much needed boot space.
