The Columbine High School massacre was perpetrated by two senior students of the Columbine High School 17-year-old Dylan Klebold and 18-year-old Eric Harris. The massacre, which lasted from 11:19 a.m. to 12:08 p.m., claimed the lives of 12 students and a teacher. The shooting also left 24 others with various degrees of injuries. After the killings, the two perpetrators exchanged fire with police before committing suicide. The pair’s motives for committing the heinous crime still remain unclear. The song’s lyrics talk about the tragic stories of three adolescents: a teenage school student who gets shot by his fellow student at school, 12-year-old little Suzzie whose father left her leaving Suzzie to find love in the wrong places, and another teenage boy (“Johnny boy”) who goes on to commit suicide because he failed woefully in his attempts to be cool and fit in with his mates. P.O.D.’s first album, 1994’s Snuff The Punk, came out the same year as Korn’s debut, and Sandoval’s band were soon shoehorned into the burgeoning nu metal movement alongside them. “We got lumped in with Body Count, because we’re from the hood and we’re a band of colour,” says the singer. “Then we got lumped in with Rage Against The Machine. So when the nu metal thing came along, we were just, like, [shrugging] ‘OK, cool.’” The song was released on Christmas Day of 2001 (December 25th, 2001) as the second single from the band’s fourth studio album Satellite. Satellite sold over seven million copies across the globe, making it one of the best-selling album of all time.

Brynden from Puyallup, Waman this song is gnarly. reading that comment by justin is just unbelievable.. i cant imagine seeing my friend get shot like that. this song has a lot of meaning. this sounds cliche but Violence is not the only way to get your anger out, infact its not the answer at all. God is the only way. He's behind you every step, every second, every min. of your life. he can help you. God Bless

The kids who did this were Christians, but everyone will label them differently to protect the religion. That aura of positivity hadn’t faded by the time Youth Of The Nation was released as a single that November. It may have been inspired by an entirely different tragedy, but the opening lines could have been written about 9/11: 'Last day of the rest of my life/I wish I would’ve known cos I didn’t kiss my momma goodbye.’

Statistics

Youth of the Nation" contains three stories of adolescent tragedy in American culture. It begins by describing a teenager skating to school only to be shot by a fellow student. Lyrics go on to speculate whether or not the boy who committed the act felt unloved. Following the chorus, a 12-year-old girl called "little Suzie" is depicted as having been abandoned by her father and subsequently "finding love in all the wrong places." Finally, another teen known as "Johnny boy" fails to fit in with his peers and ultimately commits suicide by firearm, "[telling] the world how he felt with the sound of a gat [handgun]." [2] Music video [ edit ] Rebka from Crapville, WyI like this song. It's really meaningful. P.O.D is a good group. They are also christian. Youth of the Nation” was written by four members of P.O.D. (lead vocalist Sonny Sandoval, bass player Traa Daniels, drummer Noah Bernardo, and lead guitarist Marcos Curiel). The third verse has Sonny being angry that nobody knows what’s going on with the youth that’s causing depression, violence, and suicide. Youth of the Nation (Australian CD single liner notes). P.O.D. It is similar to "Jeremy" by Pearl Jam in that there were both shootings at a school. It is sad when something like that happens but having a song about it helps to get through. They sat in the studio in San Diego, watching the news in disbelief. “We were going, ‘What’s happening with this craziness? What’s wrong with the kids today, with the youth of the nation?’” says Sandoval.Jim from San Diego, CaThanks to P.O.D. for putting out a song that has meaning.
