About this deal

Perhaps if I were fifteen years younger, I’d be devouring the Warriors books. But by now, the story contained in Into the Wild seemed trite and contrived; a watered-down version of a hundred other animal adventure tales. (The cats’ increasingly ridiculous “wild” names are enough reason to throw in the towel.) Perhaps it’s a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth: “Erin Hunter” is not an author, but rather a pseudonym for the multiple authors who churn out the series—which is more prolific than an unfixed colony of feral cats. And that's my final word. I won't be replying to any comment in here, I don't care why you love this (write your own review for that) and I won't read the rest of this series. Both the Warriors and the Dominators have themes to their gangs, however they are very different. The Warriors have a Native American theme, calling their leader and second in command Warlord and Warchief respectively, whereas the Dominators base their youth gang on New York crime families, calling their leader and second in command Father and Uncle respectively. The rest of the Dominators are "brothers" to each other, with the third in command being "Eldest Son". Hunter, Erin. " The Clans Decide" (PDF). Archived from the original (PDF) on 19 April 2009 . After seeing the film, guitarist John Spinks had dubbed the band "The Baseball Boys", but this was later changed to The Outfield based on the advice of their American manager. [44] The novel begins with a quote from the Xenophon's Anabasis. In addition, throughout the novel, the character, Junior, reads from a comic book, a classic-comics version of this very story. The Dominators never get involved in rival gangs that they have to fight against, as they spend the bulk of the novel on the subway, which is neutral territory, whereas the Warriors get into multiple brawling encounters after being framed by a newly rival gang leader for the murder of a charismatic gang leader. Siskel, Gene (February 13, 1979). "The gang cliches are all here in a weak 'Warriors'". Chicago Tribune. Section 2, p. 6. The series first began when publisher HarperCollins asked Victoria Holmes to write a fantasy series about feral cats. Holmes was initially not enthusiastic, since she "couldn't imagine coming up with enough ideas." She worked with the concept, however, expanding the storyline with elements of war, politics, revenge, doomed love, and religious conflict. [1] Although the original plan was for a stand-alone novel, enough material was created for several books, and the publisher decided on a six-volume series. [1] The first volume, Into the Wild, was written by Kate Cary under the pseudonym "Erin Hunter" and was completed in about three months. [2] Holmes then began to work behind the scenes, editing and supervising details. [3] Cherith Baldry joined the team to write the third book, Forest of Secrets. Later, after she wrote the first Warriors field guide, Tui Sutherland became the fourth author to use the pseudonym Erin Hunter. [4]

Linda Gross of the Los Angeles Times called the film "an insightful, stylized and shallow portrayal of gang warfare that panders to angry youthful audiences." [26] Gary Arnold of The Washington Post wrote, "None of Hill's dynamism will save The Warriors from impressing most neutral observers as a ghastly folly." [27] In his review for Newsweek, David Ansen wrote, "Another problem arises when the gang members open their mouths: their banal dialogue is jarringly at odds with Hill's hyperbolic visual scheme." The unnecessary deaths were also another bug for me. Like, I didn't even get to know the character yet he died and I'm supposed to feel bad? For example, there was a Redtail (yeah, ludicrous name - don't even mention it) at the beginning. I didn't know who that was, and there comes some cat telling everyone Redtail's dead. I mean, wtf, who the hell is Redtail? [31] During a fundraising event in Russellville, Arkansas, Brightspirit's Mercy was performed by various high school drama students. The second of two plays by Erin Hunter, Brightspirit's Mercy is about Jaypaw, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf. In the play, the characters go to a Gathering where it is obvious all of the Clans except for ThunderClan are starving. Three cats from StarClan appear to them: Brightspirit and her parents, Shiningheart and Braveheart, who were created in memory of a 10-year-old Warriors fan, Emmy Grace Cherry, and her parents, Dana and Jimmy, all three of whom were killed in a tornado in February 2007. [103] They tell the three young cats that they must help feed the other Clans. [104] Physical media [ edit ] I was happy then, before I knew the truth, she thought.
