Von Däniken brought the Nazca Lines to public prominence in Chariots of the Gods? [29] with his proposal that the lines were built on instructions from extraterrestrial beings as airfields for their spaceships. [30] In his 1998 book Arrival of The Gods, he added that some of the pictures depicted extraterrestrials. [30] The idea did not originate with von Däniken; it began after people who first saw the lines from the air made joking comparisons to Martian "canals", [29] and had already been published by others. [31] Jason Colavito (who has made or echoed some of the criticisms above) has criticized von Däniken's book Signs of the Gods 1979 for what he describes as making very racist claims while speculating that ancient aliens created varying human races. [54] Popularity [ edit ] In German we say a writer, if he is not writing pure science, is allowed to use some dramaturgische Effekte – some theatrical effects...And that's what I have done." [13] [25] [26] As a teenager I devoured all his books and many other similar books. I basically lapped it all up as “amazing truth”. a b c von Däniken, Erich (1968). Chariots of the Gods? (PDF). Where did the narrators of The Thousands and One Nights get their staggering wealth of ideas? How did anyone come to describe a lamp from which a magician spoke when the owner wished?

A close look at the theories of Erich von Däniken (2ed.), Barnes & Nobles, ISBN 006464040X The first draft of the publication had been rejected by a variety of publishers. The book was extensively rewritten by its editor, Wilhelm Roggersdorf (a pen name of the German screenwriter Wilhelm Utermann). [1] [2] Summary [ edit ] Statue from the late Jōmon period (1000–400 BCE) in Japan, interpreted by von Däniken as depicting an alien visitor. Von Däniken suggests that the Nazca lines (200 BCE – CE 700) in Peru could be "landing strips" for alien spacecraft In 1972, an edited version of the film appeared as a TV documentary called In Search of Ancient Astronauts on NBC and was produced by Alan Landsburg Productions. The documentary was narrated by Rod Serling. [26] A follow-up called In Search of Ancient Mysteries aired the following year, also narrated by Serling. [27] [28] The documentary series In Search Of..., which Leonard Nimoy hosted (Serling having died in 1975), was premiered on the basis of those two "pilot" films.

this is a recognised flaw in human reasoning, particularly important in things like chess. When you consider an option intently - a move in a game, a theory asking for belief, a politician - and eventually decide against that option, there's a strong tendency for you to immediately latch on to a new alternative option with limited scrutiny, even if you would never have accepted that option had you given it the same amount of thought you gave the first option.] The actual author, the guy who re-wrote it, was the Nazi German screenwriter Wilhelm “Utz” Utermann The book also suggests that ancient artwork throughout the world can be interpreted as depicting astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. Von Däniken describes elements that he believes are similar in the art of unrelated cultures. [1] [12] [13] Among the artwork he describes are ancient Japanese Dogū figurines (which he believes to resemble astronauts in spacesuits) and 3,000-year-old carvings in an Egyptian New Kingdom Temple that appear to depict helicopter-like machines. He asserts that the supernatural beings described within many religious texts were not angels but aliens …At the start of this book, I felt Erich presented a good hypothesis. Could it be possible that in ancient culture they have seen aliens and describe them as gods since they could not interpret the technology? The answer is yes, of course, it's all possible. In Chariots of the Gods?, von Däniken cited the Iron pillar of Delhi in India, erected approximately 402 AD, as a prime example of extraterrestrial influence because of its "unknown origins" and a complete absence of rust despite its estimated 1,500 years of continuous exposure to the elements. [20] [21] When informed by an interviewer, in 1974, that the pillar was not rust-free, and that its origin, method of construction, and relative resistance to corrosion were all well understood, von Däniken responded that he no longer believed extraterrestrials had been involved in its creation. I think Chariots of the Gods was a wonderful and very informative book. Honestly, I have a lot more respect for Erich von Daniken than I do bloats like the so-called "genius" Stephen Hawking. At least Erich traveled to all of these destinations, done hands-on thorough research, and has proof of all of his claims. a b c Lingeman, Richard R. (31 March 1974). "Erich von Daniken's Genesis". The New York Times. p.6. A lot of ingredients go into that blender, including (...) apocryphal lore. He refers to "The Book of Dzyan", for example, which he helpfully adds is to be found in "The Secret Doctrine" of Mme. Blavatsky (...) "The Book of Dzyan" exists only in her astral thoughts. (...) Actually, both of these documents have a way of turning up repeatedly in books on flying saucers, which is probably where von Däniken found them.Roughly about one third of his book is basically, “ they helped us, we can go out there and help others in the same way they helped us“. a b Kroth, Jerry (November 1, 2010). Aliens and Man? A Synopsis of Facts and Beliefs. Algora Publishing. ISBN 978-0875868165. There are different types of people living in this world with different capabilities. Some people are born geniuses, while some become one after continuous education and hard work. Some people are unfortunately born with very low IQs. There are many people who fall between these two categories. The author intelligently tells us how we should react when we don't understand a concept discussed by a genius.
