About this deal

A staple product for sensitive skin – this best selling hypoallergenic cream is formulated with 93% naturally derived ingredients that work to balance, repair, hydrate and soothe the skin. Featured star ingredients include Panthenol, Madecassoside, Green Tea Extract and Sunflower Seed Oil that repairs skin damage, nourishes the skin from deep within, soothes redness/irritation and keeps the skin soft and smooth all day. It has a low pH and free of any irritants like fragrance, artificial colour or parabens. Ingredients For the same reasons they are popularly used, they are also commonly avoided. Anecdotally, many individuals have reported that Silicones cause/excerbate breakouts, irritation, cause a feeling of skin being unable to breathe, cause clumping of cosmetic products and find it difficult to wash off. As a result, those who find them problematic are avoiding them and increasingly, cosmetic companies are avoiding them as well.

Parabens are a large group of preservatives which are used to prevent bacteria growing in cosmetic formulations.Heavy duty as a moisturizer but still is very emollient and sits well under makeup (give it a few minutes to absorb into the skin first though) These include: Amodimethicone, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetearyl Methicone, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethiconol, Methicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Stearyl Dimethicone, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone. However some sulfates are so good at their job, they can wash off your skin’s own natural oils that keep it moisturised and protected which can lead to dryness and irritation.

Most people will find no issues with sulfate, however if you find your skin doesn't like sulfates then free feel to avoid them by looking out for the sulfate-free icon on Skincarisma. It is perfect to seal in your serums or actives, perfect to pair with acid treatments because this is so gentle and basic I have to admit, I have not tried the previous formulation as there were two ingredients that are irritating for some, and me being one of them made me avoid it. In the previous formulation the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream had Bitter Orange (essential oil) and Shea Butter , both ingredients can be irritating for certain skin types. Personally, my face does not like Shea Butter as I will break out the next day. So I am extremely happy they have removed these two ingredients, removing the shea butter may have possibly changed the texture but this one has a luxurious rich creamy gel texture. They also added more gentle and soothing skin ingredients, such as Allantoin a soothing and protecting ingredient, Green Tea a soothing antioxidant and Glucose (humectant). All these changes make this moisturizer less irritating and a really great choice for sensitive skin types. Needless to say I much prefer this updated formula.

It’s suited for irritated skin, sensitive skin, or ‘weak/fragile skin’, but I find even for normal skin/dry skin this is perfect! I mostly use this as a basic, regular moisturizer, and then for days that my skin is feeling more irritated or slightly sunburnt, I like to use the Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream (review here). Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream ingredients The Etude House SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream uses 93% naturally derived ingredients and as few ingredients as possible to balance, hydrate, and soothe skin. It has been tested to be non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), and hypoallergenic.
