About this deal

Below are the three main bits of advice we would give to someone considering a new electric toothbrush. 1. You don’t need to buy an expensive toothbrush For more information, read our Sonicare brushing modes or Oral-B cleaning modes article. Brushing intensity Having handled many brushes, spoken to many and heard countless stories on brush reliability, I have a good feel for what will and won’t last the test of time. What this all means is that it cleans the teeth really well, particularly if you make sure you are using the correct toothbrushing technique.

Experience Oral-B Pro 1 from the #1 brand used by dentists worldwide. The Pro 1 electric toothbrush helps you brush like your dentist recommends for 2 minutes with the professional timer and it notifies you every 30 seconds to change the area you are brushing. To extend the value form the brush you may choose to share the brush handle with a partner or family member within your home. Just clip on and off your brush head, placing it on the stand when not in use Brushing too hard can damage the gums. Bristles of the brush need only skim the surface of the teeth and gums.

Where these two brushes also vary is cost. If you share the brush handle with others such as family members it can bring the cost of ownership down. It looks fantastic and feels great in hand. The smooth touch materials are good quality and easy to keep clean.

SURI is one of the first electric toothbrushes we have come across that has taken genuine steps to reduce its impact on the planet. It’s not perfect, but it’s at least pushing harder in the right direction than other brands. There is a small amount of evidence showing that rotation oscillation brushes are better than other types. They reduce levels of plaque and gum disease. These organisations have similar goals and approaches. For example, producing advice for the general public on how to look after their teeth and gums. Or the recommended fluoride doses. There is little need for extra cleaning modes. The default cleaning mode on a toothbrush is suitable for most users.CleanTeeth is another possible alternative. It is one of the better options, albeit a bit expensive and bulky in hand. In certain circumstances, the brush automatically adapts to prevent you from doing damage to your teeth.

Scottish Highlands & Islands postcodes: AB, FK, HS, IV, KA, KW, PA, PH, ZE, LL58-LL78, IM, TR, PO30-41 There is very little difference between these modes and both do a similar job, but you can perhaps see why the Smart 4 4000 became the recommendation as it was our understanding that the Pro 2 2500 did not have the slowest and most gentle gum care mode. The Pro 680 can remove more plaque than a manual toothbrush. First time users will be impressed with the clean but may find it a bit powerful. You will get used to it after a few days. Far from obvious but built into the handle too is an internal pressure sensor. This slows the brush head movements when excess force is detected. The idea being it limits the damage. It does this until the pressure is relieved. Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell if it has been activated as the sound change is minimal and there are no visuals to alert you. This is what either makes or breaks the 670 in my opinion and whether it becomes your next electric toothbrush or not.

Where are the differences?

Colgate has offered good value brushes for many years. They haven’t been must-buy products, but they do what they need to. Oral-B and Sonicare have been better in product quality and cleaning power. The sonic cleaning action has always felt weaker in the Colgate brushes, and this still applies to the Colgate 250R. It is cheap, but the battery life and box contents are worse than the 250+ it replaced. The design is a bit more stylish though.
