This Bestway Flowclea 1500gal Filter Pump is the filter pump to choose if you have one of the large Bestway or similar type above group pools. I’m talking up to 31,700L of water so pools over 18ft but I’d recommend it for smaller pools too. On my pool, the water is changed with this once an hour? Keeps it clear. I also configured a vacuum hose with an in-line filter bag, and this has just enough power to get stuff off the bottom. But it's not quite enough to run a floating surface skimmer properly. This is my second unit. The first one lasted quite a few years, sitting out in the sun and weather. And with me using it. LOL. Selector valve became a little leaky and hard to turn recently. But I did not always turn it off before switching gears. (I will with this one.) Plastic is just beginning to look sun-baked on the old one, connectors were loosing their 'smooth'. Needed o-rings, a new pressure gauge, a new safety plug, a few connectors, some new hoses. Just got it all, in a new unit. Alternatively, and much lighter in weight than the sand, is an equivalent volume of Polysphere filter/media balls. These are small spheres made of 100% polyethylene (a plastic) and provide high filtration for water and other liquids. They’re reusable and renewable. You can clean them by hosing them down. To replace 25kg of filter sand, you need just 700g of these filter balls, so the 9kg of sand equivalent is even less than this. Now a feature I do like is the auto timer lets you set an automatic schedule for the length of time the filter pump comes on from between two hours and 12 hours. This saves you from remembering to switch the pump on and off yourself. Pros

We would suggest setting the pool up in a shaded spot or using a gazebo or canopy to help protect the pool.

This is normally caused either by the pool not being set up on flat level ground or someone standing or leaning on the frame of the pool. We would suggest moving the pool to a more suitable location. We would also advise that you do not stand on the frame of the pool, the ladder must be used for entering and exiting the pool. In my review, this Bestway Flowclear Sand Filter System is different from the other pool filter pumps in that its filtration system uses quartz sand, or you can use fibre filter balls instead. The advantage of this is that you have to replace the sand every few (three) years and not every few weeks like you do the paper filters in the smaller standard filter pumps. I put the filter together and it has been running perfectly for about 3 weeks. No leaks or problems. The point of having a filter pump is to keep the water sparkling and clean. And as well as the usual dirt and debris, this includes green algae. Algae grow more in warm temperatures and sunshine, so it makes sense to run it more in the summertime.This durable and corrosion resistant sand filter is compatible with most above ground pools and is a highly efficient and environmentally friendly way to keep the water in your above ground pool clean and healthy.
