About this deal

Lustre is a textured paper, if you turn it to its side and look very closely (maybe even with a magnifying glass), you should be able to see what look like little “bubbles”. These little “bubbles” create a texture that can pull into the matte direction. Yet these prints are still smooth enough to be a little bit reflective. Complicated, I know, but bear with me.

Glossy prints are famously prone to showing fingerprints, scratches and smudges, while lustre prints are far less likely to show these marks. So while glossy is a viable option, it’s often better to consider one of these other photo printing paper types: Satin/Semi-Gloss Paper If you want to frame a photo and get good visibility, you should go for a matte print. Or try a metallic finish if a modern, minimalist style is what you want. Your choice of lustre vs. glossy is partly subjective. But some finishes work best for certain kinds of photos or situations. Radiant Photo– Radiant Photo superior quality finished photos with perfect color rendition, delivered in record time.Your photos — simply RADIANT.The way they are meant to be.Glare - Is the extent to which light bounces off the surface of the paper when a light is shone on it. Glare can be very distracting and make viewing an image difficult due to reflected lights. There’s also a lot to be said for creating your own prints with a high-quality photo printer instead of uploading your digital images to a lab. For one thing, you maintain control over the whole process and, with a just little learning and maybe a bit of trial and error, you should be able to get fabulous results that are exactly as you want them. Companies that feature lay-flat books (such as Printique) will usually only offer photo paper to go with them. If you follow all of these tips, your print will remain in tip-top shape, often for decades upon decades! Photo Printing Paper Types: The Next Steps

Like a satin finish, silk is a fair option if you’re looking for something on the more affordable end of things – it’s fairly long-lasting…just don’t expect it to have a lot of punch. A great examples of professional metallic photo paper are Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic ( 8.5×11″ and 13×11″). Lustre prints are a good choice if you need some softness in the image. Artistic photos or portraits are good examples of this.

Overview

Glossy paper is also more likely to attract dust and fingerprints and is thus more likely to get dirty over time. Standard Archival Value of 100 years in home display; 200 years in dark storage. Matte Whenever you print an image, there are several factors working against you to ensure that your print doesn’t match what you see on your monitor. As with printer manufacturers’ own-brand papers, Canson and Hahnemühle offer ICC profiles for a huge range of inkjet printers, to ensure the utmost accuracy and fidelity. What are the standard paper sizes? Metallic photo paper offers a glossy finish that gives photographs a 3D effect. Photos printed in this glossy metallic style are vibrant, sharp, and defined.

Arctic Luster features a deep luster finish which offers the perfect balance between deeply saturated color and minimized gloss reflectivity. If you use pigment inks, this is especially helpful and will greatly reduce gloss differential and bronzing. There is no doubt why it is a favorite of photographers. Lustre photos have vivid colors, sharp details, and rich color saturation. Both finishes make photographs look beautiful. When it comes to lustre vs glossy papers, you need to ask yourself, “What kind of image am I printing?” Matte paper is a smooth photographic paper that gives your images a unique warmth and fine art feel. It’s excellent for displaying photos that must be displayed “naked” (not behind plastic/glass) in an environment where light reflections can be an issue. The colors have a more muted feel to them. This can be used to great effect in designs with a light or pastel color scheme. You already know that both finishes offer various advantages, and both look beautiful when used on the right photo. There’s no clear winner between the two, so how can you tell if your photos suit a glossy or lustre finish? What’s in your photo? Unlike dye-based inks, the pigments in these inks is suspended in the liquid rather than being dissolved. The larger molecules of the pigments are more robust and better suited to matte paper. Most paper works in most printers. But if you get paper that matches the brand of the printer, you’ll have an easier time doing color management. Manufacturers will often have color profiles for their own printer-paper combinations, which means that you’ll be able to accurately prepare images for print without any headache (or need to have a custom profile done). First, a glossy finish doesn’t have any texture, which gives it less of an artistic feel. And serious photographers tend to be big fans of texture!
