About this deal

Being one continuing story, I was worried that it would be too long, and drawn out, but most of the time that wasn’t the case. The story flowed well. I was getting a little frustrated in this book, Desperate Measures, with how long it took Darcy and Elizabeth to get together. However, the build up of frustration and disappointment, in my opinion, added to the incredible feelings I felt when they finally did come together. I felt the heartache when Lizzy thought she was saying good-bye to Darcy for the last time, and the high when they were honest with one another - finally professing their love! It was a beautiful thing! Matt Pittman’s life is one full of sorrow. His son died of a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma (the same kind that Morrell's son died from) and his wife left him shortly after, and unable to cope with his pitiful life any longer, he decides to commit suicide. He has the barrel of a gun in his mouth, ready to pull the trigger when the phone rings and he is tasked with an assignment from an old friend; write the obituary for a dying diplomat. And because his friend helped him so much when his son was dying, he felt obliged to do him one last favour before he takes his own life. Pittman finds himself outside of the dying diplomat, Jonathan Wingate’s house, peeping through a glass door. Then he notices everyone leave the room while Wingate gasps for breath. Pittman enters the room and resets the man’s oxygen tubes, but unfortunately, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Due to his fingerprints conveniently being on the tubes, it was too easy for the other diplomats to frame him for the murder of Jonathan Wingate. Waiting for a briefcase repair in a Manhattan luggage shop, a woman on crutches stumbles and falls in Stone's lap, but Priscilla Scott's got baggage--and she ain't rid of it yet! Of course Stone discovers this in parts and pieces, and there is the matter of attractions, so he and Cilla become constant companions for a few days of heavy breathing. When Donald Trask show up in his office unannounced and begins threatening Stone, he links Cilla with Herbie Fisher to pay off the sulking husband. He becomes a major league pain in the ass in parallel with the serial killer team going on the offensive. She buys a fabulously expensive apartment on Fifth Avenue and Trask shoots and stabs her to death as a housewarming present. If you’ve spent any amount of time on BookTok or BookTube recently, you’ll probably have stumbled across a series of erotic villain-led Disney retellings. Yep, you heard me. Erotic villain-led Disney retellings. Desperate Measures is based on Aladdin. We then follow Jasmine when Jafar has overthrown her father. Although the politics are similar the setting is city based instead of the desert. I really love how they write Jasmine and her curiosity of the world around her. The city added a roughness to her encounters and fits the overall feel of the book and sexual encounters with Jafar. I really wish there had been more development of her in the outside world and with other people other than Jafar and within The Underground.

Also in the Desperate Measures cast are Gábor Nagypál as criminal Kristof who threatened Finn Taylor, Seb Cardinal as bank boss Clive Powell and Harry Rose Kristof’s courier Conor. Where was Desperate Measures filmed? Eminently Moving: After receiving a crushing blow, Darcy escapes London to avoid Elizabeth and try to recover. My heart broke for Darcy, to see his anguish and suffering, just when he was starting to feel some tendrils of hope take root in his heart… *sigh* Cassandra Grafton crafted such a brilliant sequence of events to engage and absorb her readers, I could not help but feel spellbound. Pete soon met someone that he felt was his destiny, Maddie Stern. She told him that she grew up in foster homes too. She pretended to like the same things that Pete did. He told her about his life and he laughed at the fact that he expected Barney to show up and rescue him. Pete didn't see her until she called an apologized for laughing at him. She also didn't like his being friends with Annie even though she had never met her. She wanted Pete to stop seeing her but didn't come right out and say it because she felt it was another deal breaker in their relationship. She cared more about his money than him. She knew that Pete was rich enough to give her what she wanted. One of the most real problems was the fact that she didn't want children and he wanted a dozen. After being left with a big cliffhanger in Darcy’s Dilemma, Darcy and Elizabeth are under new misunderstandings, and they both go their separate ways - sure the other never wants to see them again. But fate would have it’s way once more, and they are thrown together again, when they both end up in Bath. The trilogy, A Fair Prospect, is outstanding. I give it a 5 star rating, as well as 5 stars to each volume. I am still amazed at the way Cassandra Grafton is able to get into the minds of her characters, and make me feel with them every moment of despair, agony, sadness, elation, joy and relief.A Man Who Answers All Our Wishes: This Darcy is. All. The. Things. *sigh* I don’t know what else to say, except that this has to be one of my favorite portrayals of Mr. Darcy! He is a deep-feeling and passionate man, strong, loyal, and incredibly honorable. I loved that he immediately confessed his wrongs to Bingley and continued to do right by Elizabeth, even though he believed there was no future for them. Jafar was an interesting enigma, and I was a little disappointed by the fact he wasn’t closer to the original story. It would have been great to see more of his darker side when dealing with Ali and the politics of the city. I did like the interactions between him and Jasmine, it was an interesting dynamic. It grew naturally throughout the book and I loved it. I’m definitely interested to see how the other books deal with their dynamics. Good and Bad things TIME FRAME: 9 days after Darcy’s first proposal to 16 days after Darcy’s first proposal (the whole trilogy is a span of 16 days!) Please note: this is one story told across three volumes and there is, therefore, no conclusion to the storylines in the first two volumes. This story is rated PG) We fight during the day, but when night comes, we play out every fantasy I’ve never allowed myself to admit to having. I can’t hide them from Jafar, though. We know each other—and the dark desires we share—far too well. He sees to my every need, no matter how carnal or extravagant. It’s almost enough for me to be happy…

After overhearing part of a conversation, Darcy, desperate to leave London and Lizzy's presence, takes Georgiana and goes to Bath. He is hoping the change in scenery will help him forget the ache in his heart and the despair in his soul. The Colonel, who has some interesting news of his own to impart, soon joins them. Pete Sorenson was 6 when parents died and his best friend, Barney (or Barnaby) Sims hid him in his tree house to try and keep the DPS from taking him away and putting him in a foster home. Barney had problems of his own though. His stepfather beat both him and his mother. It was 2 days before they found the boys in the tree house and Pete was taken away. His caseworker was Harriet Wardlaw and she was told to not get personally involved. THUS, I also agree with those of the reviewers who stated that these 3 volumes could have been condensed and, thus been less expensive, plus allowed the readers who complained about waiting for the next volume(s) to come out some relief. I didn't wait as I bought all 3 in January, 2014. As someone already said there were many, many times when we heard both Darcy's and Elizabeth's thoughts and, Oh, My! how could they get so much mixed up and/or confused. The 3 volumes take up basically 2 weeks in the life of D&E, not counting the epilogue.

I loved Desperate Measures and the whole A Fair Prospect set! I highly recommend this set to an Austenesque fan! It is well worth the read!

It was at this point in the book that I was about ready to close it up and start another book because the whole "I'm going to kill myself" angle was getting very, very old. I realize that Morrell was writing out of the pain of losing his own son to cancer, but the book was rapidly losing interest for me.Within a few hours, Matt goes from being a suicidal obituary writer to being a fugitive, on the run and trying to save the life he was so eager to take only a few short hours before. He also manages to get an innocent woman entangled in his mess; a nurse named Jill who helped take care of Wingate during his brief stay at the hospital. Together, the two take on a life of espionage and stealth as they try to outrun and outsmart the practically invisible assassins trying to kill them while they attempt to prove their innocence. They did send a counselor to see Maddie and he told Maddie that she could walk away any time. Maddie did just that. She went to see Pete. Volume III, Desperate Measures, concludes the story begun in Disappointed Hopes (Vol I) and continued in Darcy's Dilemma (Vol II). I’ve heard many sooo much praise for Cassandra Grafton and this trilogy, and since I love Pride and Prejudice variations I knew it was something I had to read! The only question was when – because you definitely need to read this trilogy without break. From the time Pete first met Nat, Nat had tried to locate Barney and his mother. He told Pete that he thought that they had moved out-of-state to get away from the stepfather and he couldn't locate them. Pete decided to quit looking. Barney had told him that he would find Pete when he was 16 and Barney would be 19. Pete was now 17 1/2 and he still didn't know where Barney was. He decided that Barney would have to find him now. Pete was through looking.

Pete and Annie continued to see each other, although not too often. She hadn't seen him in a year and he called, drunk, from Thailand. He asked her to marry him because they wanted the same things. She told him to call and ask her when he was sober. She told him that Dennis had asked her to marry him too. Annie waited for Pete to call but he never did. The only thing he remembered of the conversation was that she said no and that Dennis had asked her to marry him too. He thought that was what she wanted. Pete didn't like Dennis and Annie didn't like him much either. He just wanted money and would comprise his morals to get it. Pete didn't like the fact that he talked about himself so much and what he had. He didn't like the fact that Dennis seemed jealous of what Pete had and made comments about his wealth. On the night Jafar takes everything from my father, he offers me a devil’s bargain—walk with my freedom and nothing else, or attempt to best him and regain my inheritance. In my arrogance, I play right into his hands. I foolishly assume I have a chance to come out on top. I’m wrong. As the action unfolds, Pittman somehow evolves from a washed out suicidal reporter to an invincible super hero. Every time he needs help, someone pops up to help him... quite happy to believe his side of the story despite all the evidence that he is a crazed killer. Casualty and Sherwood star Sunetra Sarker stars in the Channel 5 TV show’s cast as Varisha - a colleague and friend of Rowan’s at the bank who becomes embroiled in the plan too. Rowan’s dad Mal is played by Francis Magee who’s appeared in everything from the movie Layer Cake with Daniel Craig to Vera season 12. In Desperate Measures Mal has already abandoned Rowan leaving behind huge debts and the pair haven’t spoken in many years.Archy McNally ( Lawrence Sanders, Vincent Lardo): hereditarily wealthy; often idle; puts the play in playboy. But he's a charming mofo (ten times more charming than that Arnold on Green Acres) and very sweet to his mom. Also I love his Palm Beach outfits and the Pelican Club. The next day, Maddie came to see him and told him that weren't in love with each other enough. She loved his money but admitted that they didn't have a lot in common. She was telling him that so they would stay together. She told him that Annie was who loved him and he loved her. They were the ones who should be getting married. Maddie told Pete that she would testify in the trial and that she would live out her life as Maddie Stern for however long she had. Pete gave her the keys to Fairy Tales and told her that the business was hers for as long as she wanted it. This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence. Desperate Measures by Katee Robert When I read this book I was a lot like the Matt at the beginning of the story so he was definitely someone that I understood and I could also relate to. He had suffered losses that were extremely painful (the death of his son and divorce from his wife) and because of it, he had become severely depressed and felt like he couldn’t continue living. Regardless of how he chose to deal with his grief I felt like Matt was a good man, a strong man. For years after his son’s death, he had carried on living even though he didn’t think he had anything worth living for. And considering the story took place within the span of about a week to a month the drastic change was quite remarkable because the version of Matt that greets you at the beginning of the story and the Matt that bids you farewell at the end are two completely different people. He went from a hollow shell wilting away, to a man making an effort to live because he finally found the will to do so. This third volume was the most interesting for me. Partly, of course, because the couple finally sorted out all their misunderstanding and got together. But I enjoy JAFF most when there is angst and sexual tensions. I found lots of the former within this volume. I can take or leave bedroom scenes but there are none in this trilogy. I did enjoy how Georgiana and Anne were rooting for Darcy, even when he thought he had lost Elizabeth, due to eavesdropping (you know what they say about that).
