About this deal

When an Oxford student accuses one of the university's professors of sexual assault, DI Adam Fawley's team think they've heard it all before. But they couldn't be more wrong. Add to this investigation an historic case of rape and a suicide, plus a modern day murder and you’ll be holding your breath as each new twist is thrown into the story. I hold this series to an incredibly high standard because the books are just so great, so take what I say about the second part of the plot with a pinch of salt – is Cara Hunter still an auto-read, auto-buy and auto-recommend author? Absolutely, but I am slightly gutted about the way this played out – in a way, I wish this was a novella to complement All the Rage, and having another book focused around the student-professor plot. The second twisty, up-all-night thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling Cara Hunter. For fans of Shari Lapena, Claire Douglas and Lisa Jewell.

DI Adam Fawley is trying to keep an open mind. But he knows the nine times out of ten, it's someone the victim knew. I liked Cara Hunter’s first book; it was simple, had a strong plot and competent delivery. The growing emphasis on the police officers’ personal lives is a mistake as they’re not really very interesting. Cancel everything. You're not going anywhere until you finish this' Emily Koch, If I Die Before I Wake It’s definitely a busy read, as you have quite a few things going on at once – it’s also not as gripping as the previous, and I didn’t get the same rush (possibly because I saw where it was going and was a bit peeved) – however, I appreciated the longer discovery, and there are a couple of twists at the end, in true Hunter manner, which were wow!Close to Home is book 1 in the DI Adam Fawley series, In The Dark is book 2 (very, very good), No Way Out (which featured in my top books of the year for 2019) is book 3. Close to Home also featured in my top books of 2018, which you can read here. Even before the story began, I was really impressed with the 'Fawley Files'! A profile on each character to introduce for standalone-ers, or as a reminder for people who have read a million books between the last in the series and this one (ahem... 🙋‍♀️). I am a huge fan of this author and this series of books. So you can only imagine how excited I was to receive an early copy!

I read the fourth book, All the Rage (my review here) in January 2020, and around 15 months after, I read The Whole Truth. Now, the reason I love Hunter’s books so much is because of how memorable they are – All the Rage finishes on a stunning revelation which literally left me pining for this book. I don’t want to say much on this topic, but if you’re a new reader, and The Whole Truth is the book you’ve read first, you’ll been mind-blown by the plot, but I feel like for returning readers, it’s not the best reading experience. A girl is taken from the streets of Oxford. But it's unlike any abduction DI Fawley's seen before . . . I won't even begin to rehash the plot in this review. There is adequate information in the official synopsis to get you started, so you don't need any potential spoilers from me to detract from you own enjoyment of uncovering the story for yourself.Alex, istri Adam Fawley yang juga salah satu korban kejahatan Gavin Parrie. Alex sedang hamil tua dan dia mencemaskan Gavin Parrie yang berniat balas dendam. Although this is the fifth book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone – and I actually think this book was intended for new readers, over those returning. Last night, eight-year-old Daisy Mason disappeared from a family party. No one in the quiet suburban street saw anything - or at least that's what they're saying. The fifth twisty, up-all-night thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling Cara Hunter. For fans of Shari Lapena, Claire Douglas and Lisa Jewell. Kept me up into the late hours. Clever and wonderfully complex!' Jane Corry, We All Have Our Secrets

In The Whole Truth, Adam and the team find themselves in the midst of two crimes to solve and with his personal life about to undergo a huge change, Adam is feeling the pressure more than ever. But even he couldn't predict the route that these investigations would take. The third twisty, up-all-night thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling Cara Hunter. For fans of Shari Lapena, Claire Douglas and Lisa Jewell. An allegation of a serious sexual assault has occurred and it is a renowned college professor who is being accused of committing the crime.I found both narratives interesting, but the murder mystery was fairly predictable. Even not having read the previous novels in this series, I could see right from the beginning where it was going and there were very few twists and turns. I did like the additional character development that came from it and truth and lies unravel. The podcast detailing the old case was well done as well, giving a different perspective view into what was going on.
