About this deal

To be honest, I really didn't know how to review this book. I cried a lot, I felt identified with many of the things that the author said in this book and I really understand her. I really felt what she felt and I do really understand that going through all those problems is really difficult, but she did, and that is really encouraging. One other poem I really liked is from the third section, III the queen. It made me feel so much in one fleeting moment.

There has been a debate about whether this book is poetry or not. I think that it's not, just as many people said these book has verses more than poems, but overall these "verses" were absolutely amazing and made feel emotional. I feel sad, happy, angry, all at the same time. And that is what I appreciate about this book and made me love it so much. In the second section of poems the princess confronts the issues that have come in her life. They are represented in the ideas of the "big bad wolf" who has hurt her in the past and the dragons who have terrorized her, as well as talking about the death of her mother and her sister. [2] The Queen [ edit ]This collection is a little like marmite and people seem to either love or hate it.All in all, I think some sections are very poetic, others a bit style over substance. On balance, the princess saves herself in this oneis still well worth a read if you’re interested in exploring modern poetry. It was named Goodreads Poetry Choice Award 2016 so clearly, in the end, its champions defeated its critics. It was followed up with the witch doesn’t burn in this one in 2018. My last favorite thing is the rawness to the poems. Lovelace writes with clear and simple language that allows the subject and her words to shine on their own without a lot of fluff. Personally, I prefer more stripped down poetry, so this is right up my alley. (This may also explain how I was able to finish the whole book of poetry which I haven’t done since reading Adrienne Rich in college). As I said above, this book evidently draws its inspiration from Rupi Kaur’s work. However, there is one very large difference. It seems to me that the target audience of this book is considerably younger than that of Rupi Kaur. I got the impression that the person writing this is fairly young, but had clearly suffered a great deal. This poetry book was just mesmerizing. I saw a lot of people raving about this book and I decided to give it a try as well. And oh, my, God! I thought this book would take some time to read but once I started, it was impossible to stop. I finished it in less than half an hour. PDF / EPUB File Name: The_Princess_Saves_Herself_in_This_One__-_Amanda_Lovelace.pdf, The_Princess_Saves_Herself_in_This_One__-_Amanda_Lovelace.epub

As for the idea of healing / saving yourself... well, I'm torn between thinking I managed that, in my own way, and thinking I haven't got nearly as far as Lovelace in that process because mine looked so different. But that's not really a book review, that's a journal entry.) Where you lied about your age to get on and frequently rearranged your "top friends" lists accordingly. 14. Abercrombie models The fairy tale theme is a unifying force that adds additional layers to poems that would otherwise be one-note. Yet, this is still the work of an immature poet. The poems that subvert and interrogate the fairy tale princess theme are few and far between, and too many of the poems simply fall into cliché. I had heard some conflicting opinions on Lovelace’s poetry, and so I was actually a bit nervous to read this solely because I was afraid I wouldn’t adore it. I follow Lovelace on various social media platforms, so I needed so badly to like her book, and I put off reading it, because what if I didn’t? What if I would have had a bad experience when all my other experiences with her various social media work had been nothing short of wonderful? Turns out I had nothing to worry about. I should have read this so much sooner!Sadly though, my enthusiasm waned through the three other sections. I found that quite a few of the poems about how wonderful her new partner is were directly at odds with the title of the book, so I didn't enjoy these as much. The poems about weight and weight loss could have been better integrated into the fairy tale theme. Lovelace misses an opportunity with these that I believe a stronger, or more experienced poet may not have missed.
