About this deal

This beautiful fragrance exhale romanticism, class and elegance in the most pure and genuine way. It evokes beauty in all aspects, physical and intellectual. This is the best rose fragrance I have experienced . It a fresh clean yet spicy/woody rose. If you are a fan of vetiver then this is for you. It has that same depth of spicy woodiness but is clean green and fresh. On the dry down, the above becomes less loud, but I can still smell all of it. What reveals further in the dry down to me, are some gentle whiffs of fresh fruit jam that is bubbling on the hob, and (weirdly) some gentle scent of fresh floral soap, which you get on your hands just after you’ve washed them.

For anyone considering purchasing this, I will admit that it is a 'complex' rose scent as a result of it featuring papyrus, which is pretty unique. But know that it isn't a sweet/feminine rose raspberry scent (in the likes of Lancome's Midnight Rose, for example) and its longevity is truly quite poor. Best to try before buying. Will work for every season. I think in hot hot heat the rose will radiate off the skin but few sprays to avoid choking. I think this is great for females of any age. 80% feminine (but who care wear it if you love it)

I love this perfume, it’s beautiful and it’s like a soft bubble of old memories (without smelling old at all!). It’s not my favourite from Byredo, but it’s certainly one of the top ones for me. The Rose of No Man's Land" (or in French "La rose sous les boulets") is a song written as a tribute to the Red Cross nurses at the front lines of the First World War. The projection is nice, the people that you walk by are going to be able to enjoy your scent. The longevity is so good, i didn’t expect that but it last on clothes for days without staining them.

While the main published versions were for piano and voice, other versions were arranged for band, orchestra or male quartette. Mechanicals for the phonograph and player piano were also released. I get the image of a respected art historian in the first half of the 20th century who moonlights as a courtesan in her charming apartment decorated in a sensually eclectic manner with orientalist urns, luxurious silks, miniature reproductions of Rodin’s The Kiss and Eternal Idol, and (of course) a vase of day old pink roses beside a yellowed 19th century printing of a 17th century erotic text opened to display a scandalous illustration RoNML wears like an eau de cologne or eau de toilette—it's fresh, delicate and soft and it has minor projection and medium/weak tenacity. The main note is Turkish rose, and that's really all there is here. Maybe some supportive musks and some delicate floralisers like phenyl ethyl formate or phenyl ethyl alcohol. I'd like to offer my subjective take on this masterpiece as the notes have been discussed and stated many times before. For me, only the very opening came off as fruity, with some light tones of raspberry. After that, the scent veered into masculine territory with strong notes of papyrus, which to me, overshadowed the rose. After about an hour, the papyrus note calmed down, revealing a sour sort of rose. And almost as a blessing to my nose, RONML became a skin scent within two hours. The rose reminds me of the rose in Lancôme’s fragrances: the slightly sweet Turkish Delight jam rose. I feel like this is like the darker, mysterious, older sister of Midnight Rose from Lancome with the raspberry sweet rose. Rose of No Man's Land would be good for someone who works in an office or lives with people who are sensitive to perfume, or even for a younger woman or girl who wants to start exploring scent. It is a very special rose fragrance, one that feels oddly nostalgic without making you smell like your own grandmother. More like, what you imagine your grandmother may have smelt in her mid-twenties. Intriguingly youthful and elegant - truly an old soul in a young body.

PS- I was never quite sure what papyrus smelled like until I smelled both Rose Of No Man's Land and Le Labo's Santal 33 - they both feature the note quite prominently. To my nose it's a warm, sweet, dry woody note. In the end, both my best friend and I agreed that this was not a pleasant scent.. and was especially not worth its hefty price tag. I decided to return it. I've been wearing it for 3hrs now. It has Sarah Jessica Parker, "lovely" vibes but with lots of soft, delicate beautiful rose. It's powdery like the SJP fragrance. There's nothing juicy about this. Idk why people keep using this word. It feels like you're in a world above the clouds but it's very rosy pink out. Rose of No Man's Land successfully captures the clean and distilled aspects of roses and is so far the best rose soliflore/centric perfume in my collection! As a former nurse, I can confirm. This really does embody the feminine, nurturing and politely distant nature of (war era) nurses. Or at least what I imagine it to be. I still don't know how Byredo managed to capture a memory I haven't lived myself.

Longevity is entirely dependent on where you use the scent. Applying on skin, it was moderate at best. However, on clothing... 12 hours and I STILL smell it. At first spray the rose was dominant along with a hint of raspberry - fruity spice. Then as it dried down the rose settled into a warm honest rosy/ spicy/woody calming perfume as if sniffed directly from the bush of Rosa de la Hay. I love the sophistication of this perfume ...I have not experienced papyrus before so I can't tell if it is that, that gives this beautiful perfume it's unique and wonderful bouquet. It's finally settles into a really unique complexity of its own soft wood and rose. I'll keep it simple. This fragrance is sexy. Dead sexy. It's this warm rose fragrance that is subtly sweet without being cloying. That hint of pink peppercorn gives it a hint of sparkling freshness. I'd call it more piquant than spicy. It's an ethereal, airy and inviting scent that's just delicious on the skin. The papyrus adds a little bit of green, but I don't get any sort of mossy dirtiness. The amber is subtle and adds that gentle glow. The berry notes are super subtle, but again, I think that adds to the ethereal appeal.
