The Harry has won Which? Best Buy awards for basically being brilliant. It’s good enough at removing pet hair that they give it their stamp of approval. Henry’s two year warranty though is nowhere close to the five-year guarantee offered by Shark. This gives you unrivalled piece of mind and is the length of warranty rarely seen with appliances. If you have a big home, messy occupants, or want to save time, this is the Henry model to go for in our opinion. Its design features will keep you cleaning without pause, and it’ll cope admirably with all the dust, debris, and fur you need to remove from your home or car. In our review Lindsey gave it top marks for cleaning power and versatility, but bear in mind that it's heavy to lug up the stairs. Next, up on the list of lightest Henry hoovers is the Henry Cordless vacuum cleaner coming in at 6.4kg which is fractionally heavier than the lightest James hoover. This has several of the same benefits you get with the original Henry but with the added convenience of no cords. Stairs are a downfall for the Henry XL Plus. Despite the long power cable, the hose isn’t long enough for a whole flight of stairs and it’s too bulky to balance on a step. It’s also heavy to carry up the stairs, although there is a carry handle to make this task easier.

At 8kg plus a full bag, the Henry Xtra is not to be taken lightly and is best suited for those who need the extra capacity and don’t mind the slightly heavier overall weight. Probably best known for this appearance – something which has helped to make this vacuum cleaner something of a celebrity and household name – it shouldn’t be forgotten that he is also a very capable vacuum. Whilst the look and feel has remained pretty similar over the years, a number of tweaks have been made to improve his performance, ensuring that this vacuum continues to be the go to choice for many homes and workplaces. Suction is reflected in two ways with the Henry vacuum cleaner range. It is either a result of the maximum energy outage that the model in question has, or it is marked as a class rating. For example, the class rating of the Harry pet hair removing Henry is a Class C. If you want maximum suction, you have to go for bigger numbers. So where the Harry is a 620 w, the basic Henry has the option to go up to 1200 w. This will have more suction power.

The Henry Xl Plus has a two-stage filtration system that uses standard fabric filters. It’s effective at retaining fine particles, but isn’t as good as HEPA filters. These contain 99.7% of micro-dust particles, like mould, so we recommend these if you suffer from severe allergies.

Hard Floor Tool - The Hard Floor Tool’s special design (featuring fine bristles to the front and rear) delivers peak suction performance on all types of hard floor — laminate, tiles, vinyl and wood. These cleaners are similar in style, but the super-sizing of the XL Plus makes it more suited to bigger jobs, instead of the domestic duties of the original Henry. There’s also a number of Henry models with their own selling points, such as the Henry Xtra – a slide upgrade on Henry due to his extra tools – Henry Allergy, Henry Wash and Henry Micro. And then there’s the wildcard Henry Cordless option, the only cord-free vacuum available from the Henry range.

Hetty smiles just as much as Henry, and in terms of performance is just as able. Hetty has a highly efficient motor, a 10 metre cable and rewind storage system, and comes with a host of useful accessories. READ NEXT: The best cordless vacuum cleaners How to choose the right Henry vacuum for you 1. Henry: The compact, flexible choice You can’t deny there’s a bit of a royal theme running through some of the current names, with Henry, Charles, George and James all having ruled the land at one time or another. (Hetty is a shortened Henrietta, the female equivalent of Henry.) Dust Brush: When we started using the dust brush for dusting around the house it was a game-changer. The soft bristle brush is great for getting rid of dust along skirting boards and other areas and does it without risking scratching most robust surfaces.Having a huge capacity comes with an obvious downside: weight. At 10kg, it’s one of the heaviest home vacuums we’ve reviewed. To put it in context, this is more than twice the 4.6kg of the Duronic VC7020 and the 4.9kg of the Miele Compact C2 Cat and Dog. As with most Henry cleaners, there are multiple wheels so you can steer it in all directions. It’s the floorhead you need to manoeuvre, and the extender pipes and long hose make this a painless task. Power Settings The EcoBrush came in handy during testing for giving upholstery and stairs a once over, according to our vacuum expert Jen. Another standout feature is the impressive suction that works well on carpet and hard floors, part in thanks to the universal floorhead. The Henry HVR160 was our former appliance editor Jen's favourite vacuum cleaner. It's robust, versatile, and easy to move around to clean up messes big and small. It also comes with an affordable price tag.
