The Fry company may have started out with just a plain bar, but they didn’t stop there, and today, there are five different flavours, so plenty of choice for everyone. Options include raspberry cream, strawberry cream, orange cream, peppermint cream, and chocolate cream. Phew, that’s a lot of cream! The company was more adventurous in the past, and experimented with a whole host of other flavours. These included Fry’s Pineapple Cream, Fry’s Fruit Medley, and Fry’s Five Centre, with an orange, lime, pineapple, strawberry and raspberry filling. The Five Centre and the Fruit Medley may have been much the same treat. It seems likely that the company switched and changed the combinations in the Five Centre at various times, so you may remember fillings we haven’t got listed here! Their ice lollies in particular only have up to 4.5 syns, with some of their lowest just being 2.5 syns a lolly.

To make them a dessert you can skip the beef drippings and make them as profiteroles or use it as a boat for some tinned pears and ice cream. I added one as a cheeky 'bits and bobs' gift for my partner as it was on offer, and I know he's loved Fry's 5 Centres in the past, plus with raspberry being one of his favourite flavours, I thought I'd surprise him (thinking it was a more recent flavour). Their natural yoghurt flavour is syn free. Bought for a friend who said that the sweets were delicious, fruity, and of good texture. Pretty colours shown off in a bon-bon dish. A traditional British favourite, however, a slice could cost you between 12-13 syns, and you also have to consider custard which has 6 syns a serving!
