Among the bonus features is Dangerous Days, a brand new, three-and-a-half-hour documentary by award-winning DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, with an extensive look into every aspect of the film: its literary genesis, its challenging production and its controversial legacy.

I'll leave it up to the viewer to decide which version of the film is the best, but they all have something to offer.Warner has absolutely hit it out of the park with this one, and it's easily a five-star presentation up there with the best. I love it even more on Blu-ray, although it has to be said that you won’t see the magic transformation in HD that you see in more modern features. To that point, this isn't a complete set of bonus features and unfortunately is short sighted in that it doesn't do any pre-release promotion of the upcoming Blade Runner 2049.

Clearly the "Final" version is the standout of the set and is sure to give your home theater a nice workout. A troubled production that saw Ridley Scott fired and the film edited against his wishes, it flopped on release in 1982. From the first bursts of flames along the skyline to the flying spinners to the booming base tones of Vangelis' iconic score - it's an audio mix that joyfully pins you to the back of your seat. There is so much more detail here to be heard, the life and vibrancy of the otherworldly locations and scenes really comes across well, and you can hear the background dialogue with a clarity such that you can determine what language the characters are speaking. In a future of high-tech possibility soured by urban and social decay, a 21st-century detective is on the trail of four fugitive replicants—cloned humans that are now illegal—and is drawn to a mystery woman whose secrets may undermine his soul.We will introduce you exclusively to Newpay finance products provided by NewDay Limited under this Introducer Appointed Representative arrangement. It's now well-known that Scott and Ford didn't get along, Ford also didn't get along with Young, and both of the film's main producers (and, at times, the studio) didn't get along with the final cut of the movie. There was the "Domestic Cut," the more violent "International Version," the studio edited "Director's Cut" and even a strange "Workprint" edition that mysteriously showed up at a film festival in the early nineties.

Regardless of your previous experience with Blade Runner, this new five disc set should be required viewing by all Blu-ray fans around the world.Blacks were pretty good on the Blu-ray but they’re inky deep on the 4K, and the complexion of characters, especially Ford’s Deckard, has been enhanced, with stronger, better-defined skin tones, without ever appearing over-cooked. This is backed up to some extent by the fact that the ‘fizziest’ scenes tend to be those in fairly dark interior settings. Blade Runner stands alongside Alien as one of Ridley Scott’s best films, and this 4K Blu-ray release is a fitting representation of his vision. Of course, this version of the film was taken from weak elements, so the often fuzzy picture, weak blacks and pale colors are to be expected. This time however, I decided to put it aside for a while, let some other movies stun me into insensibility before I started seeing the seams in the technology.

And you've probably heard that it's been re-issued and re-configured in so many different versions that Scott's originally-intended themes have been mucked with to the point of abstraction. It was an insane experience digesting both movies together and as a result, I have a mutual appreciation for both. There are no additional bonus features, nor any audio commentaries, although Ridley Scott does offer a new introduction to the disc that provides a short bit of insight on the various versions. I'm aching inside because I just can't do this review justice with images captured from the now ancient VC-1 Blu-ray of 2007. Forget that 1992 "Director's Cut," which Scott now admits was only marketing and not his approved version.Special Edition includes the 4K Ultra HD Final Cut, four finished versions of the film (including the Original Theatrical Cut, International Theatrical Cut and Director's Cut), the Workprint Feature Version, Documentary Dangerous Days and an exclusive art book with behind-the-scenes photos, production art, sketches and storyboards.
