About this deal

Brown’s ability to develop the characters so well that you feel they are so real and close to your heart.

When a new NASA satellite detects evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory? new experimental `IM' weaponry - Improvised Munitions - snow rifles that compacted snow into ice pellets, desert rifles that melted sand into glass projectiles, water-based firearms that shot pulses of liquid water with such force that they could break bones. The characters are well written and believable and, in this book, Brown has written another very strong female lead character as he also did in Digital Fortress.Sexton attempts to reveal Rachel's fax in a press conference in hopes of implicating NASA and the president in the meteorite hoax, but Rachel and Gabrielle swap Rachel's fax with the photo evidence of Sexton's affair with Gabrielle, humiliating him and ruining his chances of winning the election. I like that the plot moves around in scenery from the Arctic to Washington, DC and a few points in-between keeping the action flowing and the characters moving around instead of being static in one place. She's unwilling to quit and come work for her father to help his campaign, which is dangerously close to getting enough votes to win the upcoming election. As Rachel made her way into the maze of bustling corridors beyond, she was amazed that even after six years she was still daunted by the collosal scope of this operation. By the end of Deception Point, the reader will be much better informed about how the space program works and how politicians react to new information.

Normally the harsh electronic beeping was an unwelcome interruption, but at the moment, it sounded almost melodious. With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Arctic to verify the authenticity of the find. Rachel attempts to reason with Pickering, saying that murder is not a justifiable way of solving the problem. There is a lot of potential for the characters in this book for further novels, and potentially discovering other secrets different Governments or agencies have hidden away from the public. Senator Thomas Sedgewick Sexton: Rachel's father and an ambitious presidential candidate in the book. As the maitre d' led the senator's daughter across the dining area, he was embarrassed by the gauntlet of male eyes following her. Since after all, one thing is any organization and its inspiring goals, and other the people which manage it, that after all, they are just human beings. This novel was more of a political thriller, since it follows a secret NASA and the American Government have been hiding from the public.
