About this deal

portable: I think that this solution is a bit less encumbering than a dry-erase board, especially at the sizes I'm thinking: I want something I can carry with a backpack, if possible. It curls a little if left rolled for long periods of time, but we pin the corners with books and then it flattens.

I have been able to leave my drawings on my battlematts for 2 weeks and they came off with no problem. I'm not so excited about experimenting with my Chessex mats with adhesive-backed permanent bonding and hoping it works out, though. It has the advantage of being able to tear away the top layer, and is good for locations you visit a lot. Wet-erase works better than dry erase, but be careful what you clean them up with, just plain water is safest. If you're looking for a mat to just draw your stuff on (as opposed to a pre-printed mat) then I love love LOVE these silicon mats.Do not try and roll it up nice and tight like you would normal paper to protect it, you'll be doing it a disservice.

I've cleaned up your question a little; your English was fine, I just adjusted it to match our site's style a bit better.

They do have some ghosting problems, especially with red, purple, and brown (which leaves sickly green marks, interestingly). Sometimes during a campaign, if i'm using a laminated map, i'll lay it on the chessex map before rolling. Better to have a small permanent blemish on the edge of the mat than a permanent map drawn on the entirety of the mat! Ah yes, my friend the other DM advised that regardless of what you use, if for some reason it is really stuck on there you can use cheap beer as a cleaner and it works very well. I have Chessex Battle Maps and they are very difficult to remove all the lines from the pens i have.
