About this deal

Philip Jodidio studied art history and economics at Harvard and edited Connaissance des Arts for over 20 years. As a young woman studying at University in Beirut, she was described as the most outstanding pupil the teacher had ever met. That said, I look forward to seeing more from the team who put this together because creating a story about an architect that works pretty well is no easy feat!

As an adult, she seems a bit like a mad scientist, totally obsessed by the world of architecture and the possibilities she found in trying new designs while never being afraid to be herself, even in the way she dressed. Only a handful of her projects have been built-all to great critical success- and each new project astonishes the world of design with its commitment to revolutionary forms and ideas. Zaha Hadid was a revolutionary architect, who for many years built almost nothing, despite winning critical acclaim. This practice is driven by the development of rigorous interfaces between natural topographies, human-made systems and innovative technologies that have resulted in almost 1000 landmark projects across the globe. The author makes it clear that Zaha's journey to success wasn't an easy one, but many young readers will finish the book impressed by how she was inspired by nature in drafting her designs and how she remained undeterred in doing things her way and remaining true to her vision. She was the first female architect to win both the Pritzker Prize for architecture and the prestigious RIBA Royal Gold Medal, with her long-time Partner Patrik Schumacher now the leader of Zaha Hadid Architects and in charge of many new projects. The first book published on Zaha Hadid since her death in 2016, although book had been well into production. Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid (31 October 1950 – 31 March 2016) was a British Iraqi architect, artist and designer, recognised as a major figure in architecture of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

At the time of her unexpected death in 2016, Hadid was firmly established among the elite of world architecture, recognized as the first woman to win both the Pritzker Prize for architecture and the RIBA Royal Gold Medal, but above all as a giver of new forms, the first great architect of the noughties. The city of Baghdad was full of thinkers, artists, and scientists, the littlest among them Zaha Hadid. Zaha Hadid Architects maintains its commitment to her ideals of fluidity, innovation, originality and organic progression. Meet Billie Jean King, the tennis star who has dedicated her life to breaking barriers both on and off the tennis court. Meet Emmeline Pankhurst—the leader of the Suffragettes—in this book and paper doll gift edition set.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I'm sad and disappointed that I've never heard of Zaha Hadid, who is a contemporary and fire architect whose identities include being female, Muslim, and from Iraq and Britain. The Little People, Big Dreams books series portrays the inspiring lives of artists, designers, activists and scientists in a super-accessible way with sweet illustrations and by focusing on when they started out as children with a dream.

Soon, Zaha designed an art gallery in the United States, and from there, she was jet-setting around the world designing projects for housing and public use. That said, story wise it didn't flow quickly enough to hold my 4 year old's attention, and she's usually quite attentive even for memoirs.

Meet Ella Fitzgerald, First Lady of Song who once said, "It's not where you come from, but where you're going that counts. Audacious futurism: The forward-thinking work of a singular architect Zaha Hadidis a wildly controversial architect, who for many years built almost nothing, despite her designs winning prizes and critical acclaim. I would recommend this picture book to all ages but target interest would probably be grade 3 and up! When Zaha Hadid suddenly died of a sudden heart attack in Miami last year, the world of architecture lost one of its most creative minds in history.
