About this deal

Based on a controversial best-seller, but produced several years after the book's buzz had faded (and then mis-marketed as a horror flick instead of the satire it really is), it is now a true cult film, and worth investigating for those with a taste for very acerbic black humor.

Meanbwhile, Harron's track is unique in that she admits upfront that at the time of the commentary's recording, she hadn't seen the film in many years. I dutifully stood in line opening night, plunked down my hard-earned cash from my part-time job, and sat in a darkened theater expecting to be amazed. Black levels are nice and inky and give the image a new sense of three-dimensional depth that was absent in the previous SDR Blu-ray release. If anything it may even have some more teeth if you're at all interested in dissecting modern cultural cupidity. There is most definitely grain in the presentation, though you sometimes have to press your nose to your monitor to make it out.

However, Patrick is also engaged in an affair with Courtney Rawlinson (Samantha Mathis) - his colleague's fiancée - and at night indulges in a confused orgy of drugs, pornography, prostitution and murder fantasies. The back cover features the back of Patrick's head, behind which he has thoughtfully hidden a hatchet. WONKA — The Magical Adventure of a Young Chocolate Maker Comes Home on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on February 27th!The film makes an immediately striking upgrade over its previous, distinctly flawed Blu-ray release, which was extremely soft and riddled with DNR, and also suffered from some very variable grain levels. They're all short, on-location talks, but they do get in-depth in the sense that they even talk to the costumer and other crew members usually left out of DVD extras.

When the Killer Edition came out, it blew both of those versions out of the water, but didn't render them completely obsolete, as it frustratingly left off the 'making of' featurette and most of the on-set interviews.True, he didn't don the cape and cowl for a few years after this film's premiere, but one can't help look at his Patrick Bateman and see a little bit of his future Bruce Wayne sitting there. Several years before his Batman trilogy, Christian Bale brought the enigmatic psycho, Patrick Bateman, to life in a superior adaptation of American Psycho. Bret Easton Ellis' novel "American Psycho" rocked the literary world in 1991 with all the subtlety of a tidal wave. Surrounded by slimy work colleagues vying for promotion and a plethora of women - a fiancee, a girlfriend and a loyal secretary who worships him - Patrick gets urges, often feeling the need to express them with an axe. In addition to the old bonus features, Lionsgate has seen fit to offer up fans a couple of new extras including a brand new audio commentary track with Mary Harron and they brought over a longer Book to Screen mini-doc that had only previously been available on DVD.
