Summertime is always the thriller season for me and I'm so happy I kicked off this season with something as good as these books. The most gripping thriller of the year, The Housemaid is an international digital bestseller about the shockingly dark heart of a seemingly perfect family . I try to steer clear of all reviews that contain spoilers and just read the ones based on whether the author did a great job with character building, whether the book had a good flow to it, or did it make people lose interest halfway through, and other basic qualifications, depending on what genre the book was in. The few issues I had in the first 30% which kept my rating from being higher was that I felt the author was trying too hard to tell me how to feel as the hints and 'thriller elements' weren't subtle.

But soon she realizes that Nina is a very difficult person to work for (think Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada”).From McFadden’s excellent writing style to all the characters I absolutely loved, this is easily one of the best novels of 2022.

I binged it in one sitting … yikes… The Housemaid 's plot took a completely different direction than I expected , and I loved every minute of it. The reason I haven't given it five stars is that I didn't like any of the characters enough to really care about what ultimately happened to them, but it was a good pacy read.

He drugs her and her baby, places Cecelia in a bathtub, and makes it look like Nina did it, which lands her in a psychiatric hospital with a diagnosis of depression and delusions, ensuring that no one will believe her account of things. When you expect one thing to happen, yet something completely different happens from anything you would expect, it makes for great storytelling.
