Description

It is though a completely standalone story, so please don't worry if you haven't read the previous five amazing books in this series. Robin Brennan has come home to Campion Bay. Now her parents have retired, she’s set to become the new landlady of The Campion Bay Guesthouse.

The Cornish Cream Tea Holiday is published today

I have been loving this series so far and this was no exception. This is a lovely summer read - I read over half of this in one sitting out on a summery evening. It is also a nice relaxing read so ideal at the end of a long day. Each of this series could be read as a stand-alone but they are all so welcoming there is no reason not to read them all. When I'm not writing, I spend my spare time reading, returning to London or exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline. Cressida McLaughlin’s Cornish Cream Tea series is definitely up there with my favourite series and each time I finish one I am already sitting there wishing the months by eager for the next one to be released.

It really makes no difference at all to your reading experience if you have not read any of the previous books as all can be read as standalone stories and in particular I feel this one even more so than some of the others. Cressida whisks us away once again to Cornwall and the seaside town of Port Kadow. Wow, is all I can say. The descriptions of the town and the surrounding coast and countryside were just fantastic. I have no hope of going anywhere on holiday this year but reading this book I felt I was transported to the hot days of summer near the beach and I was with Thea on her holiday which turned into much more of a life journey than she had anticipated. A dog-friendly café near Falmouth, it’s such a tranquil spot to visit. You could make more of a trip out of it, and catch the St Mawes Ferry from Falmouth, from there you’ll need to hop on a Go Cornwall Bus, which goes every 50 minutes. A dream of having a bookshop by the sea. I couldn’t think of anything better. I loved Thea and Ben (😍😍) and it was great catching up with the other characters from previous books and obviously re-visiting the idyllic Cornish setting. A gorgeous summer romance brimming with heart, humour and charm, Cressida McLaughlin’s latest novel, The Cornish Cream Tea Holiday is simply superb.

The Cornish believe that the jam should be applied to the warm scone first and then a dollop of clotted cream on top. However, Devonians think the cream should be spread first and then the strawberry jam on top. Either way, the Cornish cream teas are delicious, but this doesn’t stop the great scone debate from going on, tearing the West Country apart! Scones are baked daily, and a Cornish cream tea is traditionally served with fruit and plain scones, plenty of clotted cream and jam, plus tea or coffee. Or if you’re feeling extra fancy why not book in for an afternoon tea, which you can enjoy in the garden, the drawing room or on the bridge, which looks out over the gardens.I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Random Things Tours and I am leaving this review voluntarily Cressida McLaughlin is one of my auto buy authors. As soon as I hear that there is a new Cornish Cream Tea book I’m completely sold. I don’t need to know anything about the book, a synopsis, featured characters or locations because all I know is that I’m going on another adventure in Cornwall and I cannot wait. I was really intrigued to read this book because it’s based in a different area on the Cornish coast but is still part of the Cornish Cream Tea series. However, some of the characters such as Charlie, Daniel, Delilah and Sam do make an appearance in this book. What can I say apart from I loved the storyline. It was engaging, well written, pulled at my heart strings and was just heart-warming. Reading this book was like being given a big hug. Ben is rather grumpy and is in the process of renovating the property next door to where Thea is staying.

During the three weeks, disappointment, misunderstandings, new friendships and experiences all collude to make Thea realise what she is capable of and what she wants both professionally and personally in her life!Charlie thinks it will be the perfect mobile café for afternoon tea, so she heads to the picturesque Cornish village of Porthgolow, hoping for a new start. However, Daniel Harper, the owner of the posh spa up on the hill isn’t very pleased that her bus is parked outside his lovely hotel. If you’re after a gluten-free cream tea in Cornwall then look no further than the cobbled streets of St Ives. Not only does the bright and cheerful Yellow Canary offer gluten-free scones but they also sell gluten-free pasties and a selection of other cakes – oh, and they’re dog-friendly too! Thea and Ben grow closer as they spend more time together, going on walks, visiting the lighthouse and more. I loved reading about their relationship and it tugged on my heart when the third act conflict/dark night of the soul happened.

Thea has arrived at her holiday cottage with her close friend remaining in Bristol. Work commitments have prevented her from accompanying Thea but it actually turns out to be a blessing in disguise. At first, Thea struggles with her own company and the list of things the friends had intended to do. But, with Esme’s absence, Thea finds herself acquainted with her neighbour, Ben, and this provides an unexpected friendship. Ben was an intriguing character who I grew to love. His past shadowed his pure heart of gold but as his barriers began to come down we could see he was a pure gentleman with a whole lot of love to give, he had just lost his way. As with previous books from the series we get reacquainted with some previous characters and this time it is Merry and Flynn, so very lovely to see them again. Ollie Spencer has started a new life in the idyllic Cornish seaside town of Port Karadow. Throwing herself into her job at the town’s bookshop, A New Chapter, is one way to make friends. The shop is glitzing up for first Christmas and Ollie hopes her inspired ideas will give the shop the edge it needs to dazzle the town. All Meredith Verren has ever wanted is to escape the holiday season without having to wear a Christmas jumper. Her new job at the cosy gift shop in a picturesque Cornish tourist spot is making it impossible for her to maintain her scrooge-like manner.
