When I picked up this book at the library, my first thought was: This book is either going to be an epic disaster or hilarious. For now, Shiraz is stuck on an estate in Goodmayes, Essex, with her sister Cava-Sue, her nightmare mum Diane and her loved-up mate Carrie. Soon she's writing off for college applications and spending the rest of her time trailing after Carrie Draper, who's hellbent on infiltrating the celebrity circuit.

The diary format works well for Shiraz's outspoken voice, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes YA and is looking for a good laugh. Shiraz, Cava-Sue and Murphy are siblings growing up in a rough area of Essex, all attending ‘Superchav Academy’. You'd never expect a person to act this way or treat their children the way this woman does, but I felt like her character served a purpose.Shiraz is back in Goodmayes, Essex, revisiting old friends in this, her sixth Chav Diary, and her life is about to get a tad darker .

The gist of the story is that our dear heroine is about to take her GCSEs and sort of doesn't give a fuck. Now, I wasn’t THAT chavvy when I was at school (even though my brother might say different – the nerd!

Shiraz is a three-dimensional character, and while I did roll my eyes at yet another character with literary talent, it sort of works here, because it plays opposite of the Chav stereotype (and Shiraz is embarrassed by it).

She knows she’s going to have to have a few words with Wesley about their future as he’s planning all sorts himself and it isn’t fair. As insufferable as a lot of these characters were, they were all realistic or depicted a part of their culture like Shiraz.Things get tricky when Shiraz ends up getting a job as PA to a Premier league footballer and his wife - Carrie had her heart set on it and she's furious, but how could Shiraz turn it down?

Tiaras; Shiraz worries that her school Mayflower Comprehensive will still live up to its reputation of being "Superchav Academy" a nickname given to the school by the local newspapers and especially with a stunt that happened during the Christmas assembly which Shiraz was the instigator of; however, that all started to change, once a new English teacher Miss. The divine Shiraz Bailey Wood is back to enlighten us on the multi-layered, rich tapestry that is her life in Goodmayes Essex. Her very funny growth realzation that perhaps a life spent working in a factory isn't the best use of her potential is clever and well-done.Shiraz is nearly 19 and has been living away from home for the past few months but is now back in Goodmayes, Essex in her old cell-like bedroom plotting her future. Grace is still grounded for dying her mother's best saucepan purple while customizing denim hot pants when she was a teenager, but she also works as a journalist for The Guardian and Radio Times for whom she recently wrote a phenomenally popular Big Brother blog. When she's not writing comedy Grace is to be found 'faffing about on the Internet' or 'faffing about in the garden or kitchen' or 'just 'faffing about generally. I highly recommend that you, or any teenager or adult you know, join Shiraz in her journey through teenage life, and I apologise if you think these books are way past their sell-by date, I’m just ‘keeping it real’.
