When Harvey gets to the top of the platform, he realizes he can’t see the town. Wendell disregards this comment, along with Harvey’s comments about the strange, warm weather. They spend hours working on the treehouse and become friends in the process. So... That's all. I probably would have liked this a bit more had I read it when I was in the target age range, but still, it's a good story.

got to do what you've got to do! It took about three months to write, probably another couple of months to do fixes on, and then I gave it It is short, with nice pictures, 'drawn by the man himself,' and moves along at a fair clip. And I'm hoping that there will be readers who come to this book and open it and enter its worlds more readily than maybe they would have done with Weaveworld or Imajica; and then in turn they'll be led on to those books." As the truth behind the property begins to be exposed, it seems Harvey needs to make a move fast or risk never returning to that boring life he took for granted before. I would defend to the death the moral care with which Thief of Always has been written. This is not a casually anarchic book. It's aThe next day, Harvey meets a boy named Wendell. They build a tree house together and plan to fish in the lake until they are stopped by Mrs. Griffin, who says the fish are “poisonous.” Harvey decides to visit the lake anyway but finds there is no sun, and the fish seem to be staring at him. I laid out what I thought the action was going to be. I had a really clear sense of it. I wish novels were always this easy, but they're not. Mrs. Griffin' – The housekeeper, and a fantastic cook. She has been there longer than anyone and seems to know more than she lets on. The Holiday House is truly a place of miracles. The food is better than you've ever eaten and there are enough toys and games and costumes and masks to keep any child happy for the rest of their lives. And in every day there are four seasons - a perfect green spring in the morning, a blazing wonderful summer in the afternoon, an evening full of woodsmoke, pumpkins and fallen leaves, and every night is a white Christmas with a present for each boy and girl.

Now, onto the characters... I didn't really care for any of them. It didn't help that, besides our protaganist, most felt pretty flat to me. And the reason I cared little for the protaganist is because he didn't really have a dramatic need (besides not being bored anymore...) in over half a book. And that first half is pretty much without major conflict as well. So that didn't help... That night, they see a shape fly through the sky, which distracts Harvey long enough to lose Wendell in the darkness. Harvey swears he hears someone tell him Wendell is in the tree house. Convinced Wendell is playing a prank, he runs towards it. As Harvey climbs the ladder, a body falls, tied to a noose. It scares Harvey until he realizes it is fake and sees Wendell is laughing. Harvey swears he will get revenge.

On his way to the wall that night, Harvey hears Lulu calling him. He discovers that something terrible has happened: Lulu dove into the lake to retrieve Harvey’s ark and has now turned into a fish-like monster. Harvey sees her transform in the moonlight. In creating ‘The Thief of Always,’ the vocabulary had to be simple. The structure of the sentences also had to be of a plainer style because I wanted ten-year-olds to be able to read it, but I also wanted to appeal to 40-year-olds in the same way that C.S.Lewis still appeals to me today.
