Description

You do tend to get what you pay for when it comes to sleeping mats. If you are just starting out, you might not want to invest heavily upfront and should probably opt for something a little cheaper. That said, it really depends on how much you value your comfort, as cheaper options won’t be quite as comfortable to sleep on. Weight

Understanding the terrain you will be camping on can make a big difference as to the type of camping mat you choose.

Terra Nova Solar Photon 2 tent – very cosy for 2 (you need to be very good friends/married/tiny), roomy for one, super lightweight and the poles fit in a 53 cm frame bag but it is a little bit fragile if you are not careful. There are however some methods that you can use to determine a product’s quality without needing to physically have it. Geodesic tents: This type of tent has crisscrossing support poles, making it much more capable of dealing with high winds and harsh weather. Geodesic tents sacrifice space and are a little more complex to pitch than other styles but are great for camping in extreme environments but less suitable for casual campers and families. Another factor that can be a great indication of product quality is the brand. Brands like OEX are of course extremely well known, especially for Sleeping Mats. The downsides to these mats are that they are not as comfy as other sleeping mats. They also don’t fold up as small as inflatable mats and don’t really provide much insulation.

So please forgive me but I’ll save myself from some poor night’s sleep and, without any signs of it being particularly durable or non-durable, I’ll just give it an average score. It won’t change my overall impression anyway! Value for money So if you are planning on some extreme wild camping expeditions, foam camping mats are a good choice. For your fairly normal wild camping trips, there are better options available. Inflatable Mats Map and compass – love being able to print on OS maps it matches perfectly with komoot to have a combo of new and old school Exposure Trace and Moon rear light, plus an Exposure Race should we have ended up riding in the darkFinally, no setup instructions are included. This isn’t too bad since the valve is fairly straightforward. But I suspect quite a lot of people who aren’t familiar with self-inflating pads will know that they should set it up at home the first time and leave it inflated. That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from OEX so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at OEX branded products within the Sleeping Mats category. The cost of OEX Sleeping Mats I compared this side by side to the self-inflation of the Kamui Camping Mattress and the difference was night and day. The OEX Traverse is significantly more difficult to set up and doesn’t deliver on its promise of being self-inflating. Overall, the OEX Traverse 2.5 sleeping mat performed very poorly when I tested its setup. The Traverse comes with a standard air nozzle that you unscrew and, in theory, the sleeping mat should start filling up with air. [5/10] Portability

The OEX traverse 2.5 is fairly typically sized for a sleeping mat. That is to say, look elsewhere for a sleeping mat in large size if you’re approaching six feet. The downside to buying online is that you can’t actually get hold of the product to try it out first. In this case, you get what you pay for. If you need a pad for casual camping, I’ve tested the Kamui camping mattress and found this to be very comfortable, albeit much bigger in its bag.Fabric 11-in-1 multitool – Includes 8mm hex and flathead screwdriver, which are often missing in my experience Rab powerstretch thermal leggings – a bit bulky but given the time of year, totally worth it for the warmth! So when it came to trying the Traverse mat out, I pulled it out of its carry bag, took off the elastic bands, loosened the valve and threw it lengthwise onto the ground triumphantly. Aaand … nothing happened! Closed-Cell Foam mats are a tried and tested industry standard. These mats are durable, and relatively inexpensive compared to other sleeping mats available. In general, I was very disappointed with the comfort of the OEX Traverse 2.5. I think I would even prefer a traditional foam roll mat over the Traverse.

The OEX Traverse 2.5 is a poor sleeping mat. It’s very uncomfortable and its self-inflate function doesn’t work, which means it’s difficult to set up. The tent comes in a spacious bag, yet it is still lightweight and is no hassle to carry. There are extra pegs for securing an additional ground mat, and it is easy to manoeuvre if you want to move the tent to a different location. I would recommend getting a ground mat as the tent's base may need extra protection, especially when camping in unpredictable weather. Putting a tarpaulin down will offer you more protection from the ground and save you from potentially waking up damp." To give that price some context we then looked at all of the products available from Go Outdoors in the Sleeping Mats category. We found 14 items in total. What’s the price of Sleeping Mats? Read on in our OEX Traverse 2.5 sleeping mat review! Overall verdict on the OEX Traverse 2.5 Sleeping Mat

If you are on the hunt for a quality two-man tent, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you are looking for a tent for a casual camping weekend or a week-long trek, it is important to get the right tent to suit your needs. Even though 2-person tents tend to be quite snug, they make up for it in lightness and easy-pitching. Additionally, they are often far more adept at dealing with harsh and windy weather than larger tents, so there is no need to worry about leaks or other disasters.
