My eyes found themselves skimming and glazing over until those sections were over because I was overwhelmed by the information and had trouble picturing what it was trying to describe. The aunt is probably the best among them, but even she seems oblivious to Carmen's illness because she only notices her sister's.Why You Should Read It Anyway: In terms of pure ideas and the gained understanding of the world and humanity, this is probably one of the most illuminating books I’ve ever read in my life. I'd previously read a really amazing ED book ('Monkey Taming' by Judith Fathallah) so was interested in trying out more of the same genre. The book focuses primarily on the Russian high society, how they react to their country crumbling around them, and how they cope with it in all of their unique and flawed ways.Books on this wish list are often requested by folks inside but rarely donated by supporters outside. For someone that should have been able to perfectly relate to the character I thought it was completely off the mark and was so frustrated the entire time because I thought that I could probably have written a better book myself.
