Yes, this movie is bonkers, but there is nothing THAT extreme in this that someone who takes in a good well rounded amount of film from other genres and internationally hasn’t seen before. The film covers enough for a limited series and there was a lot to fit in, and I don't know what could have been cut.

This 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray release of the film features a stunning looking and sounding disc that features some solid extras with a surprisingly very informative 30 min featurette. The result is unwieldy, unpleasant, but still something of a blistering experience - undoubtedly quite the spectacle on the Big Screen (if you can survive those opening few minutes, that is) - and capable of moments of impressively constructed resonance across its duration.Performers here all doing a damn fine job, but there’s a scene with Jean Smart addressing Brad Pitt later in the film that is one of my absolute favorites of the year and really deserves giving her tons of recognition. I’m pretty grateful this exists on here as I thought we might be getting just a bunch of skimpy couple minutes long EPK featurettes. Dynamics: Babylon features a bumping and thumping Atmos track that really knows how to paint a room and also contrast with big hits from scene to scene.

Low Frequency Extension: There’s a great boombastic nature to the drums, strings and horns in this score that really hit nice and lift off on the subwoofer. This is a rather rock solid making-of featurette with good interviews and some in depth notions about the times and production. Babylon – Limited Edition Steelbook comes with the standard 2-Disc Blu-ray edition and a redeemable digital code.The film seems to be a bit of a marmite job so obviously I've no idea which side of the fence I'll be on but the AV credentials sound first class so it's a no-brainer for me. Consequently, I think the film as a piece of art is a 5, but as a film it's either a 4 or a 2 depending on your tastes and your tolerance for the film's faults. It's a shame Chazelle just seems so damn intent on revealing, and revelling in, the horrors of Hollywood that it's hard to see any love left come the closing titles, despite an intention for quite the opposite.
