If you opted in to your subscription moving to Devon County Council, then the following data will have been shared. national curriculum age-related structures (text and grammatical) that can be replicated to inspire pupils' original compositions. Debbie is also the author of the online DfE-validated Free Phonics International programme for all ages, the Wand Phonics (Wand Education) interactive, digital platform that can be used to complement both the No Nonsense Phonics and Phonics International programmes, and the self-study Phonics Training Online course.

This structured and rigorous approach offers teachers a comprehensive yet accessible progression in the teaching of spelling for Years 2-6. The idea of ‘guided reading’ in the Science of Reading foundation classroom is a simple, yet muti-faceted proposition. This means that each Teacher Book needs to ‘stand alone’ as well as form part of a cohesive whole programme.

I devised simple ways of addressing deficiencies and yet challenging some of our brighter students in this process of delivering all-inclusive instruction. This course provides an introduction to No Nonsense Spelling and includes activities to help delegates become familiar with the lesson plans, the teaching sequence and the supporting resources.

If you have been reading my blog of any length of time you will know that I am a MASSIVE advocate for explicit teaching in early literacy skills. Contains editable resources and video guidance from Babcock LDP, with a teacher's book for each year, Years 2-6. Secondly, we were interested in adopting a systematic synthetic phonics programme which supported children’s early reading but also developed handwriting and spelling – the approach of NNP certainly addresses all of these areas. Lastly, there is a third section that looks closely at pupil progress through a sequence of teaching from initial elicitation task to a final independent piece of writing. It's very clear on the rules and patterns you have to follow, but then also makes clear activities you can use to help teach that spelling pattern. This is because many schools have existing reading book schemes which introduce some letter/s – sound correspondences earlier than they are introduced in Debbie’s No Nonsense Phonics and Phonics International programmes. The fact that it’s easy to follow and quick to resource makes this scheme both useable and great value for money. Children’s spelling is improving across the county, and Kent managed to equal National performance in the SPAG test in 2016 for the first time.
