The characters were annoying, the plot was drawn out and repetitive, and the pace lagged so many times. But, I guess all terribly good quality pleasure reads must come to some kind of end, and I was overall happy with this one. But with Tessa’s inability to stick to her decisions and Hardin’s taste for being a total asshole, we can’t help but wonder if these two would simply be better off apart from each other. Tessa constantly apologized for "not being able to fix" Hardin, making me unsure who I hated more: a girl who clearly has no idea how to be an adult and who always has to make everything about her and everyone's perceptions of her, or a boy who is so destructive to himself and others that there's LITERALLY NO WAY he wouldn't be in jail or forcibly admitted to a hospital of some kind to receive treatment for his mental health and anger issues.

She was with Hardin from the beginning knowing that people thought he was just using her and he didn’t date. WHY CAN'T YOU OWN UP TO EVEN ONE THING AND JUST ADMIT THE WORLD ISN'T COMPLETELY UNFAIR OT YOU AND THAT YOU'RE A RIDICULOUS PERSON? Well done Anna friggin AMAZING books I will be reading again I can’t believe I just finished the series I feel lost right now but so happy at how it turned out . I liked that Hessa grew a lot and I liked that they finally put an end to their back and forth–or tried to. This whole book was like running uphill - you don't want to do it and you're not sure why you started in the first place but you push on because you feel you have something to prove and even though it was a dumb idea you feel like you accomplished something when you reach the top because it was the worst decision you've made in a while and you clearly didn't look at your life and your choices.I got to love Hardin and Tessa (especially Hardin), and the supporting characters too (Landon, Karen, Ken, etc. Ten words to describe Hardin Allen Scott: Unpredictable, moody, flawed, aloof, secretive, demanding, conflicted, possessive matured and reflective. In September 2020, a feature film adaptation of After Ever Happy was announced to be in development. As someone working through their own depression, I was uncomfortable with how casually it was thrown around and was even more mad than usual at this ridiculously stupid girl who needs to get her head out of her own butt and just GROW UP.

Even though Hardin comes to his senses and does his best to get Tessa to forgive him, it won't come easy this time around. After We Fell was my favorite up until this point but now After Ever Happy has taken at least a small bit of my heart.During production, the cast worked closely together and stayed in a hotel in a more isolated manner, while cameras weren't rolling, due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and protocols. The cycle is beginning to end in After Ever Happy: Anna Todd has finally brought about the improvements to characters and acknowledges quite a few things that should have been present in the After series since at least book two. Tessa and Hardin's passionate yet extremely toxic love story from the After series has been a wild ride throughout the series's first three books (" After," " After We Collided," and "After We Fell"), to say the least. But apparently, Zed didn’t get that… After the kiss Tessa runs from home and Hardin finds her in the middle of the road. When Tessa heads back to Washington, I felt completely empty and lost, I don't think I was even angry anymore, I was numb.

It was beyond infuriating to have both Hardin and Tessa constantly making themselves out to be the victim, but especially Hardin. It's important to note that at Booked J we are open to all genres and as our audience grows, so does our taste in literature.I almost never like it when a book goes into the future and shows the couple five or more years down the line, but in this case I really enjoyed the afterward that showed how Hardin and Tessa ended up. In this book they’re back together in terms of they live in the same house for most of the story, talk all the time, have sex etc, but they are not together because she’s supposedly not letting him treat her that way anymore. I can see Tessa going to New York and getting away from Hardin for a while to be independent and learn to be on her own a bit after some of the things he did to her.
