It’s the first rule of friendship among gentlemen: Don’t even think about touching your best friend’s sister. With her bestselling “Spindle Cove”, “Castles Ever After”, and “Girl Meets Duke” series, she has had great fun creating heroines who defy the conventions of their time—engaging in “unladylike” pursuits that range from paleontology to beer-making—and dreaming up the strong-willed, sexy heroes who find their hearts ensnared by them.

I then worked in finance in London for a couple of years, and in marketing back home in New Zealand. Rafe thinks she will suit his brother but then he sees a different side of her, the one who likes clubbing and dancing. The one thing that I didn't really care for was the deception, everything was so lovely up until theat was revealed. It's like this is an idea draft of one of her novels that she had discarded and then later thought I'll publish it as it is! But a spur-of-the-moment declaration stating they will be wed could result in them both finding lasting happiness or doom them depending on how each reacts. After reading other works of Tessa Dare, namely Girl meets Duke trilogy, I had high hopes for this one. The royal playboy can feel an immediate connection, but the American heiress is strictly off-limits! Sebastian’s best friend’s sister Mary (who he has been pining after for years) is left at the altar, so obviously the only solution is to marry her himself. This novella has Tessa Dare’s winky humour (there is a Swedish furniture scene that I found hilarious), a feminist heroine, and a grumpy but besotted hero. The story is about American heiress Lexie who eventually becomes engaged to Prince Adam whom she's had a crush on for most of her life.

Things seem to keep going from bad to worse on this ill-fated attempt at a honeymoon, but Mary is determined to make the best of it and to make her new husband her true husband despite his insistence that they take it slowly.I also liked that we got to see Sebastian run the gamut of emotions over her actions and it wasn’t slipped under the rug. He agreed to Vanessa’s ruse for her adorable son’s sake and for the opportunity to claim some “husbandly” pleasures. One of those reasons was that she had been in mourning for her younger brother, Henry, who had died in battle. It might be squicky, but it I would guess it's more likely encouraged than not, especially if the brother is bestowing her hand. Billionaire cattleman Kirk Deverill had offered her the job to help her keep her son, although the eligible bachelor hadn’t expected her to tell everyone she was also Kirk’s bride-to-be!

I really enjoyed His Bride for the Taking it was fun, kind of seeing Rafe fight his growing feelings and fascination for Lexie. His close friendship with Henry Clayton had kept Sebastian Ives, Lord Byrne, from acting on his attraction to the man’s sister, Mary. So, although I’ll read pretty much anything with words on a page, it’s romance I come back to every time, to pick me up, to envelop me in a different world, to make me laugh, to make me sigh.
