Totally agree with this. I had an 'old technology' smart system based on the X-10 protocol where all the switching was done by switch/ dimmer modules. I changed it to Philips Hue having got my head around the intelligence being in the bulb. It means you can keep standard wiring and switches. If the system fails you can still use switches to use the lights etc. And can take it all with you if you move. And it gets around the no neutral at the switch issue.
