It’s no surprise then that they’re among the most accessible anime titles for new American fans of the genre. Ghost in the Shell tells the tale of a female cybernetic government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi, and the Internal Bureau of Investigations, who are hot on the trail of “The Puppet Master,” a mysterious computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts. Colors are richer and more nuanced, with the HDR giving certain elements an added measure of pop and luster. Since I mentioned that Anchor Bay had released Ghost in the Shell for North America, the 4K Ultra HD release was instead distributed by Lionsgate with a new author which is a vast improvement to the original English Blu-ray release. The limited edition release comes presented in a rigid box that houses a steelbook that contains both the 4K Ultra HD disc and Blu-ray disc, since this is also a combo pack release.

Project 2501, also known as the Puppet Master is an artificial intelligence program secretly created by Public Security Section 6 as a tool that could stealthily manipulate politics and intelligence, altering databases and the memories of key persons for the benefit of select individuals and organizations affiliated with the Ministry, and is equipped with unparalleled computer and cyberbrain hacking abilities. Ein weiteres klares Highlight ist der zugrunde liegende Manga, der einem vor Augen führt, dass man hier tatsächlich nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt einer viel größeren Geschichte sieht. Unbeknownst to Motoko she is integral to the Puppet Master’s plans and as she tracks him, he is in fact steering her toward his ultimate goal. Yet the added HDR/WCG and Dolby Vision really makes all the difference here, even in the more reserved shots, bringing all of the tones to life - from Motoko's own naked body, to the lavish office interiors and broken down cityscape ruins, giving depth and vibrancy to the woods and the steels, and to the skies and the sea. Both visually and aurally, Ghost in the Shell is still a cut above the rest over a quarter of a century later.

Essentially if you are familiar with the US Lionsgate release, then these extras have been brought over to the UK in their entirety. Tarda més a arribar del que diuen quan fas la comanda però pots anar fent seguiment del paquet xq l’enviament a Espanya és amb correos. With the info presented so far, it is currently not yet known whether the UK release will include that end credit song, especially considering numerous re-releases of the film in the UK and US have used the English end credit song instead. It is a shame that the minor issues with Lionsgates’ US release weren’t corrected in the year between their release and ours, but honestly, they were so small that they had virtually no impact on my enjoyment of this release.

Still revered as a landmark in science fiction film 26 years after its release, Funimation UK (formerly Manga Entertainment) are once again celebrating one of the more historic parts of their history with a brand new release, bringing Ghost in the Shell to the UK and Ireland in 4K for the very first time. All of the hand-painted cels and background layouts look spectacular, offering more image detail than ever (and more than you might suspect). The film has always been readily available, and eventually did receive a Blu-ray release in the UK by Manga Entertainment to some pretty mixed reception – long story short the video quality was decent but the audio was messed up and they didn’t include the Japanese ending theme song (instead re-using the English ending theme song). Ghost in the Shell comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray from Lionsgate Home Entertainment featuring 2160pHEVC encoded video and lossless Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.And if we should happen to learn that this change was accidential and not deliberate, we’ll post an update here.

Get ready to explore the world of Ghost In The Shell like never before with this stunning 4K UHD Blu Ray set. It was a really interesting film, not to mention it also inspired a number of films, shows ever since. My audio/video ratings are based upon a comparative made against other high definition media/blu-ray disc. Use the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to agree or disagree that the title is similar to Ghost in the Shell. Ghost in the Shell, among Akira and Ninja Scroll, were the trio that sparked a massive interest in anime during that time for the UK. The lettering on signs and buildings in old New Port is intelligible and discrete, and some of the gorier, action-packed sequences are striking.
