Description

This is another mess of a book by David Walliams, there are some good ideas but as a whole it doesn’t really work. The same jokes over and over again, as well as some very juvenile humour made it a seem like it’s dragging, and I often found my thoughts wandering off, even though it’s not a long book. I certainly loved reading it, it reminded me of the books I read growing up (I used to love reading Roald Dahl). Een humoristisch jeugdverhaal vol karikaturen, met veel woordgrapjes en dubbelzinnigheden die zowel fysiek als verbaal worden uitgebeeld.

Only downside to it is that it has a lot of different characters to keep up with/remember who's who but, honestly, this just gave me an excuse to do even more daft voices for each person! Whatever one can do, she will most likely do it better, simpler and quicker once she puts her mind to it. When Larker is sent to the school, she quickly realises that VERY odd things are going on involving sinister Science teacher Doctor Doktur, a secret cave and a ‘Monsterfication Machine’. Young readers get to read a wonderful book that is a little bit rude, a whole lot of fun, and totally addictive.

The stories themselves are always well thought out and spark the imagination, and David Walliams does create unique characters and brings each of them to life. This story is about a girl that meets like a monster and then they have a lot of adventures together but the problem is that it is lie illegal for her to have the monster because it is dangerous so the story is about the girl and the adventures of the monster but also how she tries the monster to be friends with people so that she can demonstrate that the monster is not dangerous. The way in which the characters learn as they go through strange yet entertaining situations is thrilling for readers. Okay, I'm going to be kind with this one, I'm an adult reading a book intended for young kids and the one thing which irritated me is probably entertaining for children. I prefer his books that have a more tangled story such as The ice monster, The Beast of Buckingham Palace, even Code Name Bananas but maybe because I like the history element being thrown into them.

Megamonster is an action-packed page-turning adventure from David Walliams, packed with brilliant illustrations by Tony Ross. When Larker is sent to the school for pulling a prank, she quickly realises something very odd is going on . To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. The plot was somewhat entertaining, but there was just nothing underneath it, and I think that’s what I found the most disappointing.

Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. The lessons are appalling, the school dinners are revolting and the teachers are terrifying – especially the mysterious Science teacher Doctor Doktur.
