Whilst we would not advise the thermometer is used in this way, accidentally shining the light in eyes will not cause any harm. Family temperatures can be read by ear or forehead and the thermometer’s One-Touch design makes it easy to use as well as highly accurate – measuring to 0. Yes; when the thermometer is off, aim it at a flat surface and press and hold the MEM button for 8 seconds. I found it great to check the nursery temperature throughout the night with a quick and accurate reading. Haven't got time to keep sending these back so will just have to use as a temp reader and not a room thermostat.

I bought the ice cube for freezing food in and found them really easy to use and wash and i also use the red bowl everyday. It's amazing technology, to be able to just point it without contact on my children's forehead and get an accurate reading is just incredible. Am sure that is at least 5 degrees higher than it really is, thermostat is set at 20, and I'd be sweating my arse off and complaining if it were really 27!

Maybe if the product had the flexibility to also take body temp in the ear for example it would be the perfect thermometer. The ideal room temperature is apparently 19ºc but I find that quite cool and only ever achieved in the cooler spring months. However, if it taking temp by ear is so dependent on technique that it can say a kid has a temp of 36 when it is really 38. This is the first digital thermometer I have used for my children, it has come at a great time as my daughter has chicken pox with a high fever and my son has been teething. Tried using it on myself on forehead, and it came up lower (by about 2 degrees) than if I take it orally with my other thermometer.

It was above 38 at the doc's this afternoon an hour after Calpol and he certainly hasn't gotten any better between then and now. It really is a godsend, it is easy and quick to use and my daughter doesn't complain when we have taken her temperature. Bought a second one with my third daughter, and now this has just stopped working after a handful of times. Press the MEM button to access the memory function and read up to nine previous temperature readings. It is definitely worth every penny because it can be used for so many things like checking the temperature of your child's food and bath water.

Being able to check my child's temperature checking the bath water and temperature of there food, all in just one product. All three of my children had a virus at once and instead of having to put a new ear guard on each time as i would have had to on my old in ear thermometer I was able to move between them.
