About this deal

I needed a LAN cable connection again for initial setup as it has no clue what my WiFi settings are, so I just unplugged power and plugged the LAN cable in. Sometimes I also feel that doing extreme or minute tweaks steals from the experience of just listening and getting lost in it. I would say if you can get better power supplies, do so, even if you just want to make sure you have the small things covered at your source. However reality is that PSU does make a difference because of interaction with the rest of your system.

Equipped with a DIR WM8805 chip, it ensures the digital transfer of the Raspberry Pi with High Fidelity. So I noticed that Allo do DIGIONE SIGNATURE PLAYER which is apparently fully configured and they claim is “plug and play”. So, my first step was trying to understand why Allo released an S/PDIF transport that costs about 3 times than similar gear: I know them too better to think they are overpricing, or adding useless components to their boards, so I was curious to see the rationale behind their choice.

The device is ready to use and all that is left to do is connect it to your network to take advantage of its extensive capabilities. If Ropieee doesn’t work for some reason you can just replace the sd card that comes from Allo and go from there. I took out a new fresh Micro SD card and flashed the Audio Optomized PiCorePlayer image to the card using Win32 Disk Imager.

This software exploits the full hardware capabilities of the Raspberry Pi, in particular its connectivity, since it offers the possibility to control the player from any device capable of connecting to a web browser (computer, smartphone, tablet. It knows what’s in your music files, what your DAC is, what DSP you’ve asked for (if any) – and remember that Roon volume control is DSP – and it figures out what bits your DAC should be seeing. If you do not have a SPDIF transport and need one, I can’t think of something I would recommend more.By purchasing this product, you receive an additional copy of the Max2Play Premium Testlicense (3-month period).

Much like what a traditional CD player does when you use the digital audio output signal to your Home Theatre AVR or integrated amplifier. There’s still a lot of misinformation floating around, some of it is old wives’ tales (never true) and some of it was once true but is now obsolete. Allo DigiOne was easy to install, immediately recognized in PiCorePlayer, and functions well with the Rpi 3B+. On the child board it has the I2S to SPDIF convertor, a super capacitor and a power LED that you can disable with a jumper. After some time, I realized that the DigiOne Signature Player came with the latest Raspberry Pi 3B+. For a small cost you add all these features to a product like the DigiOne Signature and it takes care of everything from obtaining the music data to converting it for you into a high-end signal for your HiFi. High performance SPDIF interface, replacing traditional less good performing SPDIF interface chips like DIR9001, WM8805 or AK411X, etc.
